These cameras are dual facing cameras that lots of companies are going to for insurance and liability reasons. The company I worked for used them as forward only with a cover over the driver side so only forward facing. I was in a managerial role so it sent alerts to the supervisors who had to review different incidents like speeding, following too closely, hard braking, and other driving violations everyday and discuss with employees. It was a major PITA at first but the driving accidents and risky behavior was stopped dramatically. It talks to the driver and tells him the violation in real time. Was good when an accident happened that wasn't the drivers fault to cover his and the company's tail. The inside cameras monitored eye movement and could tell when a driver was distracted or looking away from the road and sent alerts like when someone was on their phone, that's how it picked him up. It sends a 30 second video of the incident to their supervisors for review. I'm sure non-employees would not be allowed to be in a company vehicle and that's probably why the guy would violate company policy. Of course, it would be company's liability to make sure all drivers knew the policies and were properly trained on proper driving which ours had a WEEK of videos they had to watch, take written tests, then take a driving test before getting behind the wheel.

Maybe, but if it's understood that some amount of personal use is allowed, then any time between 5PM and 8AM shouldn't make a difference, right?

I still think there's more to the story than having wife (or baby momma) and kid in the front seat of a truck at 1:30 am.

Our company had over 800 commercial box trucks and 18 wheelers on the road. This is standard practice at large commercial transportation companies because of trucking lawsuits and because there are very few companies that will give a fleet of that size vehicle insurance without them installed.

Company policy allows you to post their pictures online taken from the company truck?

I’d probably pull that picture down so your son doesn’t get in trouble for sharing confidential company data on the internet. Or possibly even a libel charge from the individual involved.

IMO, that's a separate company issue. I don't have a dog in the fight but I know how these cameras work inside and out. I'm under the belief that disciplinary action stays in house and between the violator and the supervisor. I don't see how you could be a good manager that keeps the respect of his people and publicly chastise your employees. There's training on this as well that managers have to constantly take.

Is that an 18-wheeler or a box truck? Asking out of ignorance bc it didn't occur to me it might have been a big rig. I thought it was a regular old work truck or something.

I work for a small company. Most of the employees have a company truck. We were discussing putting gps on trucks. However, in the meeting our owner said, "if I can't trust where you are, how can I trust your work? ....I don't need you as an employee".

If it’s real then whoever leaked it to the OP may be in line for some discipline as well if it’s ever found out by the guy in the pic.

Probably took the baby out to get it to go to sleep is my guess.

My former fil had a company truck and he drove it everywhere. The lake especially. Pulled boats, seadoos, travel trailer you name it. I doubt he ever put gas in it, and I never saw a log.

But then he didn't pay for trash service either. That went to work also.

I suspect the company HR department would have an issue with employees sending this photo out and it being posted on the www.

so this guy agreed to be filmed and committed a crime with the seatbelts. Yet when I go hunting Iam supposed to be ok with hidden game cameras posting pictures of me on the web. But I do agree with both of you
