He has very minimal tarsal staining So only shoot horny deer! Copy!๐ Really mature bucks usually have much more tarsal staining running down their back legs......  Key word โusuallyโ. Not always. Itโs not a consistent indicator of maturity in my book. Others may disagree. Mature deer are often, but not always, the primary breeders. However, tarsal staining through urination seems to be an individual behavior, rather than an age indicator.
