If so much corn is being bought and you think most clubs are not abiding by game laws, what makes you think the 3 buck limit is doing any good?
I am asking to teach people how to do better on a site specific basis. You are supporting an arbitrary limit and in the same breath saying most clubs won't abide by game laws? What logic is there in that?
I've said numerous times the 3 buck limit, as written now is just a start and is very much unenforceable. With that being said, I think a lot of clubs (that otherwise would shoot a buck a day if possible) are requiring that their members follow the 3 buck limit so they don't loose their lease. That's why I think it's making a difference, but could make a much bigger difference if we had tags. I also think some of those clubs probably didn't like the 3 buck limit, but now are starting to see some positive results from not killing every 1 and 2 year old buck they see and now are happy to abide by a 3 buck limit.
Don't forget that I told you I am all about site specific regulations, so once again if you quote me or decide to write down what I want or how i feel make sure it's accurate. If you will go back a few posts I specifically addressed why I feel that a limit set by the state is a good thing. I/ We manage our property based on factors specific to our 1600 acres. With that being said we have never nor will we ever be hampered by a 3 buck limit with regards to managing property and the herd. Find me a place that needs to kill more than 3 bucks per hunter to help with herd dynamics, buck age structure, buck to doe ratio, etc. then we can talk about the need to up the 3 buck limit. And how many people wouldn't consider killing 3 bucks a season a successful fun season? 9er loves to say that hunter numbers are dropping like flies cause we can't go out and kill all the bucks we would like to. That is complete hog wash and everyone knows it. I've been hunting for 25 years and have never killed more than 2 bucks in one season. Sure I might have a different view on killing young deer, but there isn't a "hunter" out there that would quit hunting cause 3 is the limit. If someone doesn't want to hunt cause they can only kill 3 we don't need them anyway. And as we all know only a small percentage of hunters were killing more than 3 bucks, so again, complete hog wash.
