My 11 year old and I went out to a spot I know on Cahaba.
Memorable moment though on the way out we got checked. I bought a DV lifetime license this year and just goofed on not buying a WMA permit, luckily Officer CM let me turn it into a learning point for my son. He also asked "Is this guy with you?" I was confused and said, "uhhh yeah he's 11." I guess he looks like he needs a license.
I've been checked a few times walking back to the truck at Cahaba. Always had good experiences. It's a tough place to hunt but the location and size that close to Birmingham is truly unique. You won't find anything comparable in hardly any other 1 million + city, especially without quota permits. I agree. Even though it lost quite a bit of acreage in the last couple years, there's plenty of opportunity---you just gotta know how to get away from crowds.

Great pictures, some really good kills ... FAVORITE is the young mans smile with the 4 pt! Dad, that picture is a framer! Congratulations Dads and Granddads for having all these young folks out in the woods! My grandsons will be here on Tuesday from Dallas Texas... they live in an asphalt jungle, can't wait to get them in the woods!
