Just picked up a Tikka Compact in 7mm-08. What scope recommendations yall have? Im thinking 3x9x40 but concerned with lowlight visibility. Also scope mounts

Mainly for anything under 150yards might chance at a 200 yard. Also keep in mind I bought this for my 7 year old son and myself. Hoping the recoil isnt to bad for him but i will test it first

You can get a used Swaro Z3 for that price or less; great scope for a lightweight rifle. Even the 4-12x50 is only 14.5oz. Have several of them

I had mine threaded years ago and a brake added for my kids. Recoil is very minimal.

There's a VX-R 3-9x40 Duplex Firedot in the classifieds. Good fit for your Tikka.

I have a MeoSport R 3-12X50 RD on a .300 Win, very nice scope with a lot of great features for its $450 price tag. I just looked it up on the Meopta page and it is in stock. I also like the Optika5 scopes for deer rifles. I prefer the Z-Plus reticles for dialing in BDC drops with Strelok Pro. The Optika5 scopes run $400-$475ish. Great European glass and a lightweight.

Don’t discount the 1.8-5.5 Zeiss, or the Meopta, GPO, and other LPVs with 32-44mm lenses and lower mag range. Most have good low light glass AND reticles, better eye boxes, and size and weight for compact packages. Also, glass is better for the $ at lower power and a Zeiss 5.5 appears to have as much actual magnification as many of my 8x stuff and clear enough I can see holes in paper at 100 yards on 5.5x.
