Why not get another VX5 2x10? I have the VX6 2x12 mounted on one of my 338 win mags and it's a great scope.

Meopta has worked great for me - just bought there top of the line last spring - ready to try it - the older model has been great at seeing good late - also very clear
All the luepolds I hav had did not see as good late to me and I just had their top end scope and sold it - like many hav said in here - not as good late and clowdy

Can’t comment on Trijicon - hear great things

Apparently lowlight capability isn’t near the top of your list if you are considering a 24mm obj scope.

Study up on how exit pupil is calculated. You need it to be AT LEAST 5, to maximum performance in lowlight. Closer to 7 if you are young and have good eyes.

There’s a reason why nobody brags about how good their LPVO performs in low light👍🏼

Goatkiller is correct if you want a lightweight hunting scope under $500.

The 1-5x24 will have a 6mm exit pupil at 4x magnification, plenty of magnification and light transmission for woods hunting.

But I'm pretty sure JustanIllusion already knows this.

Those small scopes r pretty dang clear at low light from what I’ve experienced, it’s just the magnification isn’t as strong but even on my big scopes I turn it down when it gets dusky…so I really don’t even know why I have what I have…

I thought that a 24mm on my old VX6 HD 1-6 would be ok. It wasn't. It may be that the super zoom ratio optics have more lenses, but the VX6 1-6×24 wasn't very impressive in low light. My new 3x9 Accupoint would kick it to the curb at equal power settings.

OP, once you look thru an Accupoint with a duplex and green dot, there's no going back.

This guy gets it! And that was with a $1200 LPVO with better glass/coatings than anything you are considering.

Another negative of the LPVO: Weight. The Leupy 1-6 Is the lightweight champ of its class. The new Accupoint 3x9x40 is almost 3 oz lighter than the Leupold was! Since it went on a Kimber Adirondack weight was important too. The rifle, sling, stock cuff and Trijicon scope weighs in a 6lbs even!

For that use, I would be trying to find an older Swarovski Habicht/Nova or Zeiss Diavari 3-9x36. About 12 oz, seriously bright, and capable of higher magnification if you need to shoot through a tight window.

Modern/new unit would be a Swaro Z3, 3-9x36, on sale at EuroOptic right now for $699, or a Swaro Z3 3-10x42 at 12.7 oz and $769. Both ship free.

I have both of these Z3 scopes with the 4A reticle, which is my absolute favorite reticle in many scope I own.

Fine scopes that won't break the bank and look sleek on a pretty rifle.

Thanks.

It’s my front line rifle. Effective point blank to several hundred yards. Consistently groups under MOA, but she’s light and has to be handled appropriately at the bench. The Accupoint was a HUGE upgrade. 3x on the bottom concerned me for woods use until the first time I shouldered it. It’s very fast. Bindon aiming is a thang…

If I were going 3-9 , I'd go with the Trijicon AccuPoint , with Duplex and that cool green dot.

I “had” a 3-9x40 accupoint on a lightweight 308 and loved everything about it except the 2.2” eye relief on max power. Didn’t realize the eye relief was so short until I shot a buck from a shooting house while holding the rifle lightly with only one hand and wearing a semi-slick glove. My forehead caught the scope and someone else became the new owner of the accupoint.
