I was bowhunting this evening on the edge of a large green field and saw a black cat like creature walk across right about dark. I did not know what to do. I did not want to come down from the tree with just a bow? what do you do? i waited about an hour and finally came down. anyone ever had this happen? 
As long as there is a doe in the woods, something will die!

I can honestly say I believe you. Lived in the Winterboro to Sylacauga area all my life. Actually laid eyes on these cats several times. Used to see them in my yard regularly. U guys are welcome to start the bashing but I believe in the Gods honest truth. So there it is.

Then you have seen a true freak of nature since there are no confirmed accounts of black mountain lions.
Get a dead animal or capture a live one and I'll believe you.
With as many game cameras as there are in the state and Southeast and nation, surely to God there is ONE of them that can get a photo of a black mountain lion.
Not a jaguarundi ... but a mountain lion.

There are a lot more black mountain lions here in Alabama than there are normal tan colored mountain lions. Hell, Brian sees them all the time in his yard so they must be real. Here is a recent photo I took.  This is absolute proof that they live here in Alabama. This one lives in Dick's Sporting Goods in Oxford. What more proof do you people need. Dammit.

No matter what the other a$$hats say or think I believe you might have saw one.I have saw 3 black ones and one huge brown one a few times,my mom and stepdad also saw the brown one.the brown one was a goodbit bigger than the black ones.It has been 8 yrs since we saw either but I know they do exist.All my sightings were on BOGUECHITTO creek in orrville.Joke away as ya'll wish,but what kind of proof would actually work?Everyone one would say,photoshop it was killed in montana or bla bla...Whoops it's illegal to kill them in Alabama..I can't show the pic I have then..

If you have photos, post them.
Otherwise, produce a dead body.
If they don't exist then you won't get in trouble for shooting one.
And before you start calling everyone asshats who disagrees with you, there are more people who disagree with you than don't. There never has been a confirmed sighting or body of a black mountain lion.

I was only calling the ones that completly think that there is absolutely no way a big cat lives in the state of alabama a asshat...Everytime somebody thinks they've saw one they get bashed for it(because there is no proof) on here because they don't exist.No hard feelings meant,I just don't like other people to tell someone what they have or haven't seen if they actually weren't there themselves...Are you one of the ones that say's they don't exist? And I am not sayin' they're 100's of them running around,I just know what I saw each time.

There is a likely chance that there has been at one time a mountain lion in the State of Alabama. But, there is no way that there are as many around as people claim. Every time someone sees something that they can't positively identify, it's a mountain lion. If it happens to appear dark in color, it;s a black panther. That is why I said I believe you think you saw something. That being said, it is extremely unlikely that you or anyone else saw a "black" mountain lion. If there are so many of those around, why has there never been a photo of one taken? Or a road kill? Or killed by a hunter? etc..... On this planet there has been 3 types of cat that are documented to have a melanistic gene that I am aware of. The jaguar of Central and South America, (the most common and what is pictured above) the African leopard and those only appear above 8000 feet for some reason, and the even more rare mutated bobcat. And for you comment about them being illegal to kill in Alabama. That is not true. You can kill any animal you see that isn't listed in the regulation books. Last time I checked black panther isn't in there. I have made this offer before. If you or anyone reading this ever kills a black panther and gets in trouble about it. Call me. I will pay all of your fines and penalties. All I ask in return is all rights to the carcass and photos.
