I once shot one when it was 81. Didn't run far and a short drag out, so the meat was fine. A long tracking job could have spoiled the meat though.

85 is my cutoff point, and I'm more picky about my shots if it's above 75. Hopefully we have a cool October, and this isn't an issue.

High of around 70 is my limit. I hate to sweat while hunting.

I hunted the TX archery opener last year and temps climbed up into the 90's. Fun experience but baking in a ground blind sweating my sack off got old.

Hahaha, been called worse but hey it worked. I’m fair skinned too so the guys back at camp couldn’t tell if I was sunburned or about to have a heart attack from dragging him

I agree with JWalker. You can't just come back next week on an out of state hunt though.

How quickly did you get it gutted? You think the meat will be good?

When I hunt the opener for Texas it’s normally in the 90s. Last year I killed a big 8 point and it was 96 degrees

Good thing you guys don’t live in South Carolina. Bow opener there is August 15th in some places.

Personally I’m really glad Al opens as late as it does and doesn’t have a velvet hunt like TN does in August, but if it opened here Aug 15th and I had a “good one” on camera, I’d be in the tree on Aug 15th.
