Actually might have been a few days since my dad and I caught these, but I'm sure they are still biting! smile

That's old school right there. Dragging a motor oil colored worm I'd bet.

Actually, I think we caught the most on a Johnson spoon, but also got some on a hellbender and a bomber. I believe this was November of 1968. The lake has been built and filled that summer, but there was some issue with the dam and they lowered it back to almost the normal river level for a while. All the fish were congregated into a much smaller area and we're pretty easy to catch. As you can see, they weren't yet all that big, but they were plentiful. Limit was 15 per person in those days for anyone wondering, and I don't THINK there's more than 30 there. smile

That is a heck of a stringer of fish. Some big ones too.

Great memories was the best catch that day.

Y'all kept all those?!?!?!?!
It's a wonder there are any left for other generations to catch.

You can still catch them like that at certain times when they are pulling water and conditions are right but it's not like it was 20-30 yrs ago.

We haven't been in quite a while. I remember seeing some monster bucks last time I was there. Still had antlers and chasing does in March.

I wonder how many times I turned that antenna with a pipe wrench. We could point it at Montgomery and get channel 12, or turn it towards Birmingham and get 6 and 13.

I don't know what the purpose of the quart jar on the picnic table might have been, but I still have the frame of that table and it still sees use. I also don't know why the crawl space door is open. It actually looks like it's gone. That was where stored potatoes, so I might have been sent under there to get some to make french fries for the fish dinner we were about to have. smile
