I've had 4 dogs over the last 30 years, a Rat Terrier, 2 Great Pyrenees, and a Catahoula. They all lived long lives and were great companions, losing them was akin to losing a family member. You have my condolences.

BTW, I currently have a 5 pound Chihuahua that identifies as a Rottweiler, with a Chihuahua's life span he'll probably outlive me smile

If I ever get another dog, it will be a Jack Russell or a Rat Terrier.

Absolutely awesome dogs, very smart.

That being said, I have become very accustomed to hopping in the truck and leaving for days at a time without having to worry about anything needing food or water. It's pretty liberating to be able to leave with just a few hours notice whenever I want, and not have to arrange anything related to a pet.

Never leave a JR at home alone till he gets older ,,,, bad mistake if you do .

Mine was never left alone I know of some that just tore a house up.

If I ever get another dog it sure won't be a jack russell. My neighbor has had 2 since I've lived beside him and them dang dogs don't do nothing but bark. My dobies did like fence fighting with them but they are a pain. If I'm able to travel again any time soon it will be nice to not have to find someone to babysit for us though.

What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

I've had at least one Doberman for over 25 years and I love the breed but if/when I get ready I may go with something smaller as long as its smart. I had a husky once and that dog was dumb as dirt.

I'd never had a small dog and wasn't real big on the idea until we got our dachshund and I couldn't imagine ever owning another breed. If you want a buddy to sit in the recliner with you and just be a good companion they are hard to beat

We will burn that bridge when we get there
