Anybody have one? Thoughts/reviews appreciated.

My dad has one. It's a good little machine. His main complaint is it not having a low range and it's a little small for him. I have a 1000 and love it. He's considering selling his to get a 1000.

I have a 2020 700-4. I love the machine, and it's been flawless so far.

Positives:

Great Ride
Easy to get in and out of - Love the elevated seats.
Tough as nails
Reliable
Will go through anything
Flexibility- Usually have the dump bed in use, but on the rare occasion I have to take 3 other folks, the back seats come in handy.

Negative:

The 3 speed transmission winds really high before shifting, and when the RPMS are up it's loud. You wont be sneaking up on any game, and that's with an added muffler baffle extension. It's solid, just not the smoothest.

I leased one at work for several years. The only problem that it ever had was the neutral switch kept going out. This was at a chemical plant so the low speed use was not really as intended. Wore out two sets of tires bc it was on the concrete and asphalt it’s entire life. That stated mine did not have power steering and was a bear to turn at low speed. I obviously did not work it hard, but I can see where the lack of a low range would be a concern. Also, the lack of a “turf mode” made it tear up the grass (where it was parked under a shed) and expedited the rear tire wear on hard surfaces.

Good machines. I've had 2 700's and a 1000 model. There is nothing wrong with the 700's just a bit smaller but still a Honda and built like it.

It is much better at climbing and slick spots (especially snow) than a ranger. But, it'll cover everything with mud even taking it easy. I drove one for 3 years. For less than $11k with warranty it was a great machine. Now that they are getting expensive I'm not sure Id go that route. Probably, Id get the new kawasaki mule.

I have a 2022 Mule Pro FXT and love it. I wish the doors were easier to take on an off though. The doors are real nice at times but at other times I'd like to be able to easily pop them off depending on what I am doing. It is not a "mud bogger" but as far as pittlin around the farm and hunting it cant be beat in my opinion. I intend to put a lift and some bigger tires on mine as some point more for aesthetics than anything. A buddy has a Honda 700 and its a great machine. Tranny is a little jerky and it'll sling mud on you just going through a puddle but other than that he has been very impressed with it.

They were having issues with the models with paddle shifters. Guys were shifting too low in the gear and tearing the trannys up. I'm not sure if any of the 700 models have that, but if they do I'd stay away.

The biggest complaint I hear is its top speed is only 43 mph.

I’ve got a 2021 700-4 with power steering. It’s a work horse. I use it all the time for heavy hauling and carrying water tanks/spraying/prescribed fires. I love the versatility of the bed. If I want to take the kids on a ride or fishing I simply take out the bed mat, lift the seats and go. It rides good, is built for safety and reliability and I like the auto transmission with real shaft drive. No CVT. The shifting smooths out after the first few hours but do NOT miss that first maintenance schedule. It’s important. It’s not a speed demon and although it’ll handle trail riding ok that’s not it’s purpose. It’s a good hybrid machine built for work and moderate trail fun. I would recommend if that’s what you want.

I got that exact model one and so far I love it. As Brock says it's not a toy but it isn't a tractor. Its basically a hybrid to me. Will climb what I want to climb and go as fast as I want to. I bought a Tractor supply stall mat and use is for a bed cover when needing only two seats. My only minor negative is that it can get hot in the cab. I added a roof and poly windshield and it can get warm. Its not quiet but I'm not all that concerned about that. If I want to slip up on something, I'm walking...

I haven't used the manual transmission shifter yet, but I can see it's purpose on my farm when I need it.

Only other negative for me was price... I really had a hardtime convincing myself to pay what I paid for a modified and glorified 4 wheeler. But I'm glad I got it...and think I could come out if I wanted to sell it ever, but I don't at this point.

For heat and dust, THIS helps, where it comes up from behind the seats. Also some type of heat shield material on the bottom side of the seats. Some go so far as to install a bilge fan blowing the heat away from the seats (in front of the motor blowing towards the back).

I bought a 21 700-4 deluxe as well, main reason was reliability. they are the same machine as the older Big Red sxs, same engine and transmission. No speed demon, absolute billy goat for the bottoms and springs around my place here.

I’ve always thought 43-44 mph on a SxS was plenty fast enough anyway.

I have a 2017 700 and its never given me one lick of problems. I only use it during hunting season and its great! I have never felt I needed a bigger machine and it turns really easily in the woods. My only complaint would be the motor is under the seat, like a 4-wheeler. If I was running it hard during the summer I think I would get a SxS that did not have the motor under the seat. It gets a little warm at times.

During the winter hunting season its sure is nice though, just think it could get warm during summer.

I had a 2016 700-4. I personally didn’t like it. Good machine but it’s hot on your ass in the summer and not near enough leg room for a big man. I sold it.

Got the 1000-5. It’s a tough machine. I’ve impressed several people with its capabilities.
