The P38 was an outstanding handgun. 9mm, eight +1, double/single action. locking block, decocker, dual recoil springs. The manufacturers were Mauser (BYF), Walther (AC), and Spreewerke (CYQ). Walthers are considered the best, Mauser next and Spreewerke the last. The first two were commercial and military gun manufacturers, Spreewerke a railroad engine manufacturer who got in to the business of firearms late in the war and primarily used slave labor. I had a p38 like that with the holster and all that was brought back from WWII. It had swastikas on it. The Military museum in Huntsville has it now.

Nice post Colt Python - That's a very nice gun - lots of $ in that one. I carry a Ruger LCPII, have a 9mm and a shotgun at home. The rest of the guns and gear stay locked up. I collect, maintain, reload for, and shoot WWI and WWII military guns. Its been a hobby for a lot of years. Love to get them out and shoot them. And to answer the question - too many. Can't seem to stop.

Nice collection. I'm like most of Aldeer and wish I was rich enough to own just one gun. I know better. Ya'll spend your $ on expensive shotguns, high dollar deer rifles and exotic scopes, hunting leases, weeks on vacation, hunting trips, bass boats, 40' pick up trucks, and RVs. Everybody has their definition of what makes them who they are. Then there is all the accessories that go with that definition. I live a very simple life and wouldn't have it any other way. Old military guns are my hobby like everyone else has theirs.

Nice group of pistols ! Now that I've completed my set of WW2 rifles except for a Carcano ( not looking real hard ) next up is a Luger , P38 & Broomhandle . Already got the 1911 . Crazily passed on a P38 & Luger within 6 months of each other a few years ago at a local shop at fair prices. I was still chasing Garands & 03's at that time . Don't regret it but finding the pistols hard to find now without breaking the bank .
When you find your self in a hole stop digging !
