Once he had the shooter disarmed, unless the shooter had another firearm/weapon, he had the situation handled. You and I both know if he had shot the guy he would be crucified in the court of public opinion if the shooter was unarmed. Just a terrible situation that could of been worse if he had not bravely acted.

May have been where it went down and that pesky little commandment "Thou shalt not kill".

David

Murder. Not kill. Defense of the innocent is not murder. It’s justified. God never told Moses not to kill. Another debate for another thread I suppose, but I’ve played this scenario over in my head a million times because you never know where it’ll happen. Gotta be prepared to take a life if you’re going to stop it. I’d love to hear the story from the guy who pistol whipped him.

Having worked in that area in the past, I know a little, but not a lot, about some crazies in that area. Cahaba Heights has a few old families that still are there. There was some low down scum and some outright crazies.

I'd be willing to bet the fella that committed that shooting was one I encountered in Winn Dixie while on duty. Walked up to me and broke down bawling like a 4 yo who's candy was taken away. Law enforcement knew him when they got there. He'd been fighting with his extended family and they'd put him on the street. Dude was certifiable crazy. And he's not alone in the Cahaba Heights area.

Seems like he used to set up a booth at gun shows selling lots of magazines for different guns.

If this is the guy he's definitely got a screw loose IMO.

Or; could be the source of the weapon? If so; he better have his ducks in a row.

Quite from AL.commie article:

“A man calling himself “Mr. Smith” was sitting alone and a longtime church member approached him and invited him to sit at a table, said the Rev. Doug Carpenter, who founded the church in 1973 and retired in 2005.

“Mr. Smith” refused to join them and later pulled out a handgun and shot three people, Carpenter said.”

Most of them lived on slab row. Glad they bull dozed it and built new houses there.

He was my go-to local ‘smith before I met that fella from LakeView. Last work he did for me was replacing a broken extractor on a Smitty 4506. Instead of sourcing the part (I know they’re hard to find) he “machined” one for me out of crap steel that failed on the first trip to the range, less than 10 shots.

Got details today. He had recently been detained for pulling a gun on someone during road rage and he also recently pulled a gun on a pizza delivery guy. Clearly he is insane! So….dig hole, drop him in hole, cover hole! Next! This is how we fix this crap! If he had pulled a gun on someone without cause, his ass should be in jail!

Crazy Bastage.

Looks like he got taken behind the woodshed by the man at the church but he would look better with a close range impact wound between his eyes.
