You don’t use an e collar to punish a dog. You use it to mark behaviors. Imagine it as being able to tug on the leash with a remote.
You teach a dog the command, make sure they know it, and then use the e collar to re-enforce it. I understand how to use an e collar. I was trying to understand what you meant by “ nick” the dog. Do you mean “ mark” the behavior or what? What function are you using to “nick” the dog?
