How do you do it?

Sounds to me like you just spew BS most of the time. Try taking your head out of the internet and look around ant whats going on right here. Pay real close attention to what you are seeing happen right here in front of you without filtering it through the Kremlins explanation or the white houses explanation of whats going on. In other words just quit being manipulated. You talk to me like you assume i hang on every word of the news media. If not for Aldeer, i wouldnt have any idea what is going on 10000 miles away from here and it wouldnt affect me one bit.

see, thats your problem. We ain't talking about "whats right here". We talking about the russians invading UA. Like I said, unable to have a conversation outside the narrative.

you just proved my point, in your argument, again

You have the ability to form your own opinions and everyone else should too…….as long as they match yours. You have proven that many times over in this thread and many others in the past. You say you don’t think binarily yet you assume that a thread on a discussion forum can not contain different elements to the same subject. You also assume that when someone disagrees with a single point to one side of a discussion, they automatically agree with all points to the other side. I.E. calling someone commie sympathizers when they do not support EVERY aspect of support for the Ukrainian people. You are extremely narrow minded to any opinion that opposes yours. You make assumptions and over generalize people based on very little fact. You sir are the very definition of a binary thinker. How ironic.

What I don't get about this thread is...

If this is something you are not interested in, why are you in here?

To fvck with the people who are interested in it?

If this was a thread about bass fishing and you weren't into bass fishing would you be in there telling people who bass fished they were fvcked up?

This thread is interesting to me on several levels:

1. The Russians are an enigma. (Take Winston Churchill's word for it.)
2. This war has the potential to involve the entire world in a global war like we have never seen before.
3. This war has the potential to involve nuclear weapons, which should concern everyone on the planet.
4. This war is effecting everyone economically.
5. This war is effecting global food production.
6. This war is a classic underdog vs superpower story, which is interesting.
7. This is a rare peer to peer conflict.
8. This war involves the "Evil Empire."

If this war was Chad vs Libya I wouldn't give a chit.

All good points Irish. But the greatest potential for this to escalate into WW3 is by meddling in the war in one side or the other. Our meddling in the Middle east over the last 40+ years has yielded nothing but dead American soldiers.

Let Ukraine fight the good fight and see how they fare against the big bad Russians. The Russian military ain't looking all that great right now but Vlad still has the ultimate trump card. He won't be tempted to use them UNLESS the US and NATO back him into a corner. Once that line is crossed...

Our sanctions have had as much a deleterious effect on us as Russia.

Irish i dont click on this thread to mess with anyone. Like i said earlier, i dont watch news so i click on here every now and then just to see whats going on with it. Then, me being me, i read a couple of the comments and i insert my opinion about what i read. I really dont care about the war too much. As ive stated several times, im much more concerned about whats happening to We the people right here. I believe this war is being used to screw us over. Thats about the extent of my interest in it. Seems to me it dont matter what happens on this planet, its one more reason things get worse on We the people. Every event around the world somehow effects us negatively. You ever notice that? Seems like nothing that happens helps us. I just find that odd. We jave to be the unluckiest people on earth.

I agree with most of that. Im not sure about #5? European food production…sure. And i don’t understand why it’s affecting everyone economically? Again, European…sure. But they dont have that many oil wells…and dont hold a candle to the US in ag production.

For one

No good deed goes unpunished

The real reason is just what we did to Ukraine
Told them no nukes and we’re your big brother so we will protect. Ratified treaty or not that what we told them.

I’ll agree with your position as long we never tell a country they can’t have nukes. Because in the end it really should be none of our business since we do not uphold our promises. Countries like Iran is another deal simply because we don’t get along with them anyways.

There’s your second answer
We piss countries off cause we meddle and then leave them high and dry.

Americans are known as hypocrites and better than the rest is a reason most dislike us.
When I say us it’s the US government. For the most part we the people get along with others

I agree.

I think we already backed him into a corner. If you read Sun Tzu's "Art of War" that one of the main tenants of the treatise. You always leave your opponent an honorable retreat. You never back them into a corner where their only option is to fight to the death, and that is exactly what we (The Democrat "leadership") has done which is why we are here in the first place.

I think not only us, but the entire world is being screwed over by the war. However it's one of the many things that I can't do anything about except watch the event unfold from afar. And since I cant do anything about it, I might as well treat it as an interesting diversion. All news in effect is entertainment for people who aren't interested in "entertainment." So I stay up with the news, and for me this is the most compelling story going on right now because of the reasons previously mentioned.

I meant to say "global food supply" good catch. But in a way isn't it effecting global food production because of fertilizer shortage? Aren't Russia and Belarus main suppliers of potash? Like #2 and #3?

Fortunately for us Canada, one of our main trading partners, is #1 in potash exportation.

I think that's something we can all agree on.
