Would it be safe to plug two freezers into the same circuit? It has a 20 amp breaker in the box.

Safe yes. Good idea..no. If you lose that breaker you lose two freezers worth of food.

Other than the two one one thing it depends on how big they are. Two big ones and they both decided to start the compressor at the same time and it might trip the breaker. Would be fine until it wasn't. Freezer alarms are a good idea and cheap insurance.

Can it be done sure.. should it be no. Tactically speaking of the breaker trips and your gone you lose all your food. Electrically speaking freezers, washers, refrigerators etc should be on there own dedicated circuit

I once had an emergency call in the middle of the night. Got there and the the lady, who was in her 80’s, had two refrigerators plugged into the same plug and the breaker had tripped. The emergency was both were full of beer.

And not on a GFI plug. Lightning and other surges or amp draws can’t trip them.
