Looks like Mariupol finally fell last night. What does that do to the overall campaign? Probably nothing more than a slight morale boost for the Russians. Tactically, I don’t think the holdouts provided much over the past month or so but typing up a few resources.

If I had to guess, there was some air assets used as well. I seen an example of this week's ago when a command center was hit during an artillery strike. It obscures what really happens. That's just speculation on my part though.

I'd love to have a forward observer walking in those rounds; perhaps they do and that's where the video feed is coming from...or could be aerial from an unknown (ahem) source. Admittedly I've lost touch with the situation.

When is this soon happening Not sure what your point of reference is with regards to historic war time tables, but the Russian Invasion has only been going on for a little under 3 months. How long did it take for the Allied forces to take back Europe from the Nazi's? And we had all the resources that each allied country could bear.

I have stated before, with me this is more about rooting for the common folks that are forced by circumstances beyond their control to defend their homeland, than rooting for or against any particular government. I love America and I love all of our fighting forces, but I don't particularly care for our current government. And yeah, I know he is, and that's cool, I probably deserve it. Still most would have to agree that the Ukrainian military are giving the Russians way more than they bargained for and it's interesting to watch it all unfold..

Biggest thing i'm getting from this is it seems the "russians" are getting it handed to them and the other forces fighting for the russians (chechens and ?) are the ones that seem to be handing it out more than they're taking. Apparently the mighty soviet army was more about the states that made it up (Ukraine, Chechnya etc).
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I just want the thing to be done. Sooner than later. Just seems like it’s being leveraged for too much gain and a crutch for a lot of excuses for that to happen.

I'm not familiar with the M777. We used the M109's when I was in. I was under the impression that the US armed forces are getting away from the towed howitzers which is one of the reasons that it's no big deal to give them away.

Seems like any fixed system like a howitzer would be vulnerable from air attack. You would have to have total air superiority to rely on them for very long. Ukraine has Stinger SAM's which have opened up a bunch of air space so for now the regular artillery is working. The Stingers were how the Afghans got the edge over Russia back in the day and they still work pretty good.
