I am not for any infringements on our ability or methods to hunt turkeys, but the ability to deer hunt turkeys in a blind over a food plot and decoy spread is not good for the resource. Legal, ethical, approved method of hunting? Absolutely. But for anyone to think this style of hunting doesn't increase harvest numbers is either naïve or doesn't want to admit it. A hunter sitting in a blind, over a decoy spread and food plot is going to win that battle a whole lot more times than a hunter meeting him on his home turf, in his bedroom and surrounded by his wimmens. One style takes skill, the other just takes time. Again, I am not knocking this style of hunting or anyones desire to hunt this way. Just pointing out the obvious that more turkeys will be taken when hunting in this manner and we are seeing the effects right now. Add to all that we are not protecting the poult recruitment through predator control and habitat management, well, we taking more than we are putting back and the resource will not be sustainable.
