My buddy that I was taking overslept. So, now I may just get back in bed or sit on the porch and wake a kid up if one gobbles close.

Got one gobbling his fool head off 100 yards across the property line. If I could get close to him I might could make a play but I've got 200 yards of 5 foot planted pines and briers to get there.

I’ve heard one bird gobble one time. Waiting around to see if his attitude changes……. Other than the heat, bugs, and thick woods, this is what I hate most about this May season BS.

He's still over there gobbling and I made it about 50 yards into the thicket on a pig trail and had to back out. I'm on too many blood thinners for that many briars.
Sucks too. He's the best gobbling bird I've heard all year.

I’ve got food poisoning or a stomach bug this morning but I’m out here trying to find one in between waves of the reah. Glad I packed plenty of TP. I’m so weak I can barely stand to walk but I’m sure the energy will come if I hear a gobble.

Heard 2. Set up and ended up being in between them. Finally I saw birds in the bottom headed my way. Turns out 2 groups of super Jake’s met up in my lap. Gobbled like mature birds but only had 4 inch beards. Had 6 of ‘em within 15 yards. A yearling deer got in the middle of them so I was in wildlife potpourri for a bit there. Cool encounter.

I feel like it’s been over with here for about the last 3 weeks. Haven’t heard a gobble in 2 weeks and that was one time and I believe he was in china.

He's still gobbling on that hill in the thinned pines . He's answered me a couple of times but I'm standing on the property line and there's no were to shoot him even if I did get him to move a little. Too bad I ain't a piddler.

Not a peep - brutal 3 year stretch - I didn’t hav over 2 good hunts this year and coming into this season for 2 straight seasons I did not sit down to one the last 3 weeks of each of last 2 season but both of the last 2 years were bettr than this year by far

I will try one last time tomorrow cause I am hard headed - beautiful morning

Now is one of those rare times when you need some late season excited cackling. It's a long shot, but worth a try if you are still there. Good luck!

heard 3 shotgun blasts at 540am off in the distance so i reckon somebody was mad at em & limb launched one 🤷🏻‍♂️ then, heard one more blast around 6am - a neighbor i know well must’ve scored ... was easing on up close to 645 & about that time i hear wings flap & off the roost a jake lands in front of me about 30 yards & starts putting softly - at that time, 2 of his buddies still on the limb clucked back to him ... he slowly eases off & it gets quiet again ... shortly after 7am, the other 2 decide to come on down & walk about 10 feet from me ... observed them until they too walked off into the woods across the line ... nothing beats super close encounters like that, except of course killing a gobbler ... i thanked the good Lord for blessing me with His creation this morning & came on home after all that
