Thats what I was looking for. A man thats actually shot one in the shoulder with a rage. Sounds like it worked out well for you. Anybody else???

I have and never will again. I shot a 7pt at 12 yards, he was quartering away, and the arrow lodged in his opposite shoulder. I guess because there was no exit and the entry was blocked by the shaft there was hardly any blood. I was shooting a 70lb bowtech patriot with an easton axis arrow, about 380gr. I made a great shot and know that if I had shot him with any of my proven fixed blades I would have found him without any trouble.

All right thats two actual shoulder blade shots. One turns out good , the other not good. Who else?

my not so good was with a muzzy 4 blade 100 grain broadhead. he was slightly quartering to me @ 17yds hit him dead center of the shoulder and watched the arrow fall out as he ran off. i was shooting a 70lb diamond bow at that time. never found him. looked for 3 days.

I have shot 2 in the shoulder with a rage. 1st was a big doe 12 yards broadside, I caught the off shoulder and didn't get a pass thru. Lost the blood after 40 yards and never found her. 2nd was a buttonhead at 17 yards. I caught his off shoulder also and he dropped stone dead in his tracks. I didn't get a pass thru on him either and I believe if he had not dropped dead I would not have found him. I switched over to the G5 montec cs this year and killed one friday and sunday. The one I killed sunday I hit a little far back. She was quartering to me a little and I caught mostly guts. She ran 100 yards. I will never shoot another expan. again just for the fact of IF you catch shoulder its more than likely not gonna go thru. I seen a guy shoot a G5 striker and a montec thru a steel 55 gallon drum and it passed completely thru it.

The biggest problem Ive seen with the Rage 2 blade is they don't like to pass through the opposite side, especially on heavy framed bucks. Ive already cleaned and gutted 15+ deer shot with Rage and 9 of those were non pass throughs. Sure all those deer were dead and on the meat pole, but most were near perfect double lung or heart shots. You take a heavy mature deer hit a little high or shot quartering away and your not going to have a blood trail without a pass through. The "huge" entry hole wont mean squat.

Exactly. You can drink that "fixed heads will blow through shoulder bone" Koolaide if you want to. It will break your heart one day. There is a huge difference in shooting through a shoulder and actually blasting through the bone itself. You can shoot through the shoulder without hitting bone. That's the lucky shoulder hits. If you are unfortunate enough to hit the actual bone then your results will generally suck with a mech or fixed head.

If a outfitter told me the sun was coming up tomorrow I go buy a s###load of Coleman lanterns. Most are the scum of the earth.

I have shot a number of deer with the Rage 2 Blades and I have had a clean pass-thru every time. Lots of blood and very easy trail to follow. It all goes back to making a good shot no matter what broadhead you use.

as did i. i few years ago expandables were pure crap. i shot satellites, wal-mart specials and overprices gimmiky junk. they were all garbage. i went back to thunderheads for years until my friends pestered me into trying rage. rage and some other brands are so much better than the old stuff that nowdays you just cant make blanket statement about "mechanicals" sucking anymore. its like saying you hate cars because the only this youve ever driven is a chysler newport.
