When I worked construction in the 80s we built what was called starter homes. When we built in Madison we built family homes. Starter homes were around 1200-1400 sq ft and family homes were 1600-2000 sq ft. What are lost starter hike sq footage by todays standards? We built for $25 a ft and sold low 30s. What’s the average now? $125 plus I doubt you could get one for $125 in the Huntsville/ Madison area. I'm guessing $150 +/- 10 . A large high end , custom, built by a high end builder in the Scottsboro area is around 200 per. Yup similar here in the Auburn/Opelika area. My condo in Auburn for example is worth $186+/- per sqft which is crazy to me but the reality of it. New construction extremely close to me in Opelika for this condo/townhome thing is $210 per sqft. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1156-Burrow-Cir-Opelika-AL-36801/2064088325_zpid/Here's a SFH in that same neighborhood at $211 per sqft https://www.zillow.com/community/fox-run-village/2070774113_zpid/This is the builders website. https://www.hollandhomesllc.com/product/new-homes/communities/fox-run-village
