Cliff notes version, basically all beer is either an ale or a lager. Has to do with how (and at what temp) it’s fermented. So those are two very broad classifications. You need to break it down to what type to get to a real “style”

Most light American beers (miller, bud, coors, etc) are lagers, but more specifically they’re an American Pilsner. Known for being light, crisp and not very hoppy. There are also pilsners from other countries that are very similar but are typically slightly hoppier.
