Pol Pot, Mao and Stalin said hi. Your statement regarding tax breaks for church contributions seems odd for a Believer, as well. Are you assuming that giving to the church for relief of the poor, as described in the book of Acts, is a poor decision and the government can make much better decisions with the money?

That's what I do. But also if they are putting it up on the screen, then you don't need one, and I've always found it easier to follow a sermon when you have the same bible the preacher is reading from.
Another thing. An unbeliever needs to feel like they aren't out of place. Walk into a church and everyone has a bible but you? They know where to flip to, but you don't?
Times change. When I used to work for Habitat our office was in Fairfield. There is a big giant baptist Church there and it's dead. You know why? They didn't want black people to come.
I went in to look at an older church that wanted to merge with one. They were dying too. Probably 50 nice subdivisions inside of 20 minutes from them. It was run by these old people, and they wanted it to grow, but didn't want to change what they were doing. No merge because they didn't want to make the changes needed to attract people.
You can't win someone to Christ if you aren't speaking their language. Churches have to change to keep up. I remember when the baptist Church I was going to put in a cc machine. Oh dear Lord. You know what they found? Your average 25+ person doesn't even know how to write a check. They use a debit card. Now it's an app or Venmo.
Why would an unbeliever go to church? I reckon everyone who isnt saved is an unbeliever right. That makes it every saved persons job to get the unbelievers into church, so if you dont know why an unbeliever would go to church, you better figure it out. Now an atheist would be a different story. I wouldnt understand why an atheist might go to church, except out of curiosity. But i would assume that even an atheist would want to know and believe the truth. No one wants to build their life on a lie. So that in itself could cause even an atheist to want to go to church. Now lets talk about "believers". Why in the world would a believer not want to go to church? Thats the one that bothers me the most. And is believing enough. The bible says even demons believe. Satan believes, more than that, he knows. But believing isnt enough, is it? Those demons in the bible who said "we know who Paul is but who are you?" They were talking to someone who believed but there wasnt anything to it, they didnt have any power. All this believing, not believing, knowing is pretty deep, and its personal. Im fairly certain theres going to be ALOT of people spend eternity in the real hot place who read the whole bible and believed every word of it, they just never knew the Lord.

I really enjoy our political and religious discussions on here. I learn a lot however they tend to go sideways sometimes when we don't stop to realize before we reply to another's post that most of us on here are Conservative in our politics and Christian in our religion. It is only when we start dissecting those two things with fine tooth combs that we start letting the differences overshadow the vast similarities that we share on this site. Just because CLOTH may not be your thing, don't let that take away from the great things they do for Christianity.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Why would someone go to church, who doesn't believe in Creator God who is an eternal, transcendent, and personal Being? Why would someone go to church who doesn't believe in The Redeemer, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe? Why would someone go to church if they don't believe that Christ is the eternal Son of God?

Church of the Highlands is currently feeding over 90,000 Ukrainian refugees. They have distributed over 100,000 Bibles to Ukraine. Just yesterday they shipped over 40,000 pounds of food to the war zone.
Church of the Highlands also conducts Church services in almost all of the prisons in the State of Alabama. I can't see any nefarious reasons why they would do that. Those reasons would seem to be completely altruistic to me.
Why do people feel the need to criticize a Church when they aren't even a member? I've never heard people who are members of Church of the Highlands on this forum bad mouthing other Churches, yet we have had several threads on this forum where people feel the need to bash our Church. I honestly don't get it.

You don’t think that church is only for believers do you? COTH had 26,000 people make a decision for Christ last year. That in itself is a remarkable statistic.

Also, you didn't answer the question. See southbamaslayer response...he answered it I'm not simply trying to split hairs. Someone who has SOME belief and is seeking Truth is not an Unbeliever. The Biblical example is in Mark 9:24 - "Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” Church IS for only Believers. Church is an assembly of Believers who have a personal relationship with Jesus. Look at the beginnings of the church in Acts. It was growing rapidly not because non-believers were showing up but because the converted were joining the assembly of believers. Our job, as part of the Great Commision, is to spread the Gospel in all the lands...not just invite someone to church in hopes that the Pastor will get to them through his message

Why would an unbeliever go to church? Culture. Think about all of the Pharisee's that went to the temple and missed the Messiah standing right in front of them and then it becomes more understandable.

You’re either a follower of Christ and are living your life for Him, or you aren’t.

Church is a hospital for sinners and all should be welcome to attend. If you're building your church with your sole focus on believers your church will close its doors soon enough. As believers you guys might enjoy these type of debates but I guarantee it reinforces many of the stigmas that non believers have about those who claim Christ. And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
