Raise her like you would a boy and she’ll be a great little sidekick. When my wife got pregnant I was full on planning for a boy so I could have a hunting buddy. But I wouldn’t trade that little girl for anything. She’s already all about going hunting with daddy.

Lots of good advice already mentioned. I have two daughters that are both in college now. To me there’s nothing more special than having a daughter. I went to a lot of dance recital’s, but just being there meant alot.

I have two daughters. One is a a first year teacher and will be getting married in December. The other is in her first year of college..
I would say show them the way they are supposed to be treated, by setting a good example at home. Don't forget to say you are sorry when you mess up....... And you will. Because all men do, its human nature. We are not wired the same way.

Lots of good advice on the thread.

I have 2 girls When she gets old enough find something she and you can do together, just the 2 of you like fishing or going to the beach, bike riding or even hunting if she wants to, you can't force it though . It will create a bond that she will always remember. Build up her self esteem too. (Other kids and social media try and tear it down) Make sure you compliment her when she does something good, but don't baby her either. Make sure her friends are good influences When she gets big enough get her into a team sport if you can I think it builds confidence and character, that helps them through life . Hang on for the ride it goes quickly.

Congrats! My only child is my daughter. She is now 24 years old and about to graduate nursing school. I never forced her to participate in the things I enjoy, but she always wanted to be there with me. Have had some great times and look forward to many more. Love her so much and very proud of her. I did not read this book until she was about 7 or 8, but “She Calls Me Daddy,” by Robert Wolgemuth has some good advice for dads of daughters. Main thing is to love her, spend time with her, and let her know you will be there for her. Also, be sure to share the gospel with her and be a good Christian example to her.

Advice: Just take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the ride.
Years 2-12 just might be the best. She will adore you and dog your tracks and it’ll be pretty good.
There’s a special bond between daughters and daddies.
My daughter will be 23 in September.

I've got 2 13 n 15 they are very close but light-years apart on maturity...raise them to be strong and teach them life isn't always fair but it's up to them to shape their own life how they want it to be and find happiness through Christ...u can never set the standards to high, my girls are great but they r still young hopefully they'll continue like they are but even if they screw up I'll be there to help guide them with love
I was young n dumb n not married when I had my 1st luckily me n her mom made it work and time flies here she is now

Got 2 girls myself...one is about to graduate from UA after only 3 years; the other is a sophomore in HS. Both are great girls, never been in any trouble (other than the normal kid stuff), great students, and would drop what they are doing to help anyone out. The teen years can be rough, with all the teen girl drama they all go through, but you'll pull through. Treat you wife like you would want the girl's future boyfriend/husband to treat them and you'll teach them their worth.

Congrats. It's a life altering experience. I raised a son who's 25 now. I now am raising a foster 4yo little girl. Night and Day. I've got more time now than I did then, but less energy. Girls need more hugs and will give more love than my boy did. He was loved and we know he loved us, but acted, then and now, embarrassed to show it or say it. This little girl will stop anywhere, give you a giant hug and kiss and go right back to what she was doing. One thing that's different that I could do without is the squealing. That high pitched glass breaking kinda squeal. I'm telling you now, if they took 100 men with the same hearing intolerance I have and gave them guns, let a little girl direct that loud high pitched scream in our ear, we'd win the war in Ukraine in 20 minutes. It sets off my fight or flight instinct something terrible. Not sure why, but even with my hearing loss it has an incredible negative affect on me. When she starts it, my wife grabs her and I run for the hills.

Perfect response, I'll add, there is no preparation for the drama that will be unleashed on you at age 12.

It’s a learning curve and a huge blessing. Cherish it because you’ll blink and she’ll be grown. I have one that’s 24 and got married last year. My youngest daughter is a junior at Mississippi State and going to be a veterinarian.

I have 2 girls, 19 and 15. It's a definite challenge at times. I try to teach them to be independent, know how to shoot a gun and always carry a knife. Things are different for girls than boys, that's the reality of the world we live in. My 19yo gets pissed when I give her a curfew but I explain to her that if a boy is out late and somebody rolls up on him that he probably gets his ass beat, his wallet and vehicle stolen but if a girl is out late she might end up raped or in the sex trade. Again, that's the unfortunate reality of the world. I also tell them on a regular basis that no boy will ever be good enough for them in my eyes but I might be able to tolerate one if he's worth a crap. All you can do is the best you can and hope they make good decisions.

This was our Father/Daughter dance at her wedding, was a surprise too me and I absolutely lost it. I won’t ever admit it but she did marry a young man is more than half the man I am.

After hearing this I realized I did ok raising her

Half the man, by Jennifer Smestad

Growing up, there
Wasn't much my daddy couldn't fix
If it
Wouldn't work he'd make the old look new again
The house
The fence
The bike
The car
The little girl tears from a broken heart
Daddy set the bar real high
Showed me what a real man looks like
Its gonna take one to fill those shoes
In his eyes nothing less will do
He's gotta be a man of God
Keep it tight when he ties that knot
Lucky as a girls ever gonna get
To love the man that's half the man that my daddy is
It's never gonna fly
If he's the kinda guy that doesn't fish
He better
Keep his word
Aint
Afraid to work
And knows who he is
Strong with his hands
Gentle with his touch
And no such thing as lovin' me too much
Daddy set the bar real high
Showed me what a real man looks like
Its gonna take one to fill those shoes
In his eyes nothing less will do
He's gotta be a man of God
Keep it tight when he ties that knot
Lucky as a girls ever gonna get
To love the man that's half the man that my daddy is
Man of few words
A man who leads
The man he is is who he wants for me
Daddy set the bar real high
Showed me what a real man looks like
Its gonna take one to fill those shoes
In his eyes nothing less will do
He's gotta be a man of God
Keep it tight when he ties that knot
Lucky as a girls ever gonna get
To love the man that's half the man that my daddy is
To find a man that's half the man that my daddy is
