Aren't the Russians and Ukrainians both using 7.62x39 or are the Russians using 5.45x39? Regardless of what caliber is used how would they be able to tell who is hit with what?
My understanding is that the Russian forces in Ukraine are using the 5.45x39.
Ukrainians are probably using whatever they can get their hands on.

It was designed to replace Soviet AK-pattern weapons in use by the Ukrainian army. It also serves as an alternative to the Ukrainian licensed IMI Tavor TAR-21 clone, the Fort-221, as the Malyuk is entirely domestically designed and manufactured. The spec-ops has them surpressed with a beautiful camo paint job.
