I believe you do some traveling? Do you change anything in other states? I’ve never fooled with a box until I started hunting out west with Stoney and Squeaky. A box is legit on Merriams especially for locating mid day



I don’t really do anything different. I guess maybe my first post was a bit misleading. I almost always have a pot call and box in my vest. I just don’t use them unless I have to. Like if I’m just covering ground trying to find a bird, I may pull out a box at a particular high point. But even then, I normally start with a mouth call, give it 10 minutes, then crank the box or ceramic in a last ditch effort. The birds I occasionally strike with a box or pot call, I finish them with a mouth call unless they absolutely won’t respond to it. Just a matter of my comfort level. I’ve probably only finished 5 or 6 birds with a pot call, and never with a box call.
