the battle of voznesensk tells the tale of how vulnerable russia's battalion battle groups are to the apparently very well commanded ukrainian forces. story available on wall street journal. i don't subscribe so i couldn't cut and past. 30 of 43 tanks destroyed or abandoned. the lack of proper infantry screening is playing into ukrainian tactics with st. javelin.
One thing is for sure drone and missile technology has definately changed the face of modern warfare. I know anti-tank missles are not new but the power and range of systems like the Javelin are a game changer. Now one soldier can carry a shoulder lauched weapon that is A.) completely fire and forget; B.) can defeat the armor of any known tank, C.) has an effective range of 2500 meters and D.) has a 95% hit probability. The Russians may untimately win out but it's dang sure going to cost them a chitload of equipment.
