I moved 2 trail cameras and both my feeders to Greenfield's after the season. I am not seeing drastic greenfield use. I am seeing 2 or 3 deer. A night. One isn't seeing much action at all. Even with a feeder there. All the fields I looked at showing use, but the ones showing a lot of use always do.
There are certain things it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out and this is one. The state has allowed the wholesale slaughter of the doe population. It's gone on for years and it's becoming very obvious. On the last 10 years I have been in two different clubs in Shelby county and I have observed I decreasing number of doe sightings in person and on camera.
Y’all also have 19 people hunting 1100 acres according to what you posted in a previous post if my memory is right. Not really an ideal situation for deer numbers to flourish. And definitely not a situation to base the rest of the state after!!!
I have 19 members. Not all of them hunted. Even so, you can attempt to dismiss what I am saying I see all you want, but I'm on the property most of the year working. I'm not basing the state off my lease either. What I am saying is you cannot have a daily doe limit and a 3 buck per season limit and not adversely affect the deer population. And what I see tends to indicate that, and I've seen it on two different properties. And I'm not the only person who has spoken up and said the same thing.
I will guarantee you one thing. If you knew nothing of my lease and were looking for one, and I brought you out there, you would not drive around and look at my fields and think anything other than it was a good property. Yes it has areas that need to be thinned or cut, but lots of good fields that are being used.
But you are wanting to change the limit statewide because y’all aren’t seeing deer on a high pressured club. The simple solution would be for people to manage deer numbers according to their property. There’s absolutely no need for the state to tell anyone how many deer can be killed off a property they have never stepped foot on.
Example 1.) You aren’t seeing many deer. (Solution) Don’t shoot anything but mature bucks for a couple years and hope the deer you let go make it.
Example 2.) You are seeing to many does. (Solution) Shoot more does but set a limit for your property or per member.
Example 3.) You don’t care and are just hunting for fun. (Solution) Follow the rules that are in place for the club or property and have fun.
Y’all are also assuming that the game check numbers are accurate. I know of a lot of people that have never game checked a deer. Outlaws are going to kill what they want regardless of what the law is. And most of the people that are killing large amounts of deer in areas that can’t handle the amount killed aren’t gonna stop because the state says so.
Yes I want the state to get rid of the 3 buck rule. I think its dumb to permit the wholesale slaughter of the doe population, and restrict the buck harvest. Then at least I have something to work with. Then we could rebalance the deer herd and not shoot a doe for a year or two. I don't need 15 bucks to breed 15 doe's. I need 1 or 2.
