There are certain things it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out and this is one. The state has allowed the wholesale slaughter of the doe population. It's gone on for years and it's becoming very obvious. On the last 10 years I have been in two different clubs in Shelby county and I have observed I decreasing number of doe sightings in person and on camera.

Y’all also have 19 people hunting 1100 acres according to what you posted in a previous post if my memory is right. Not really an ideal situation for deer numbers to flourish. And definitely not a situation to base the rest of the state after!!!

Globe let me ask you this question………Isnt it possible for both of these statements to be true about your county and area??

1) My area has a lot of deer……
2) My area saw a 26% reduction in kills from last season

I have 19 members. Not all of them hunted. Even so, you can attempt to dismiss what I am saying I see all you want, but I'm on the property most of the year working. I'm not basing the state off my lease either. What I am saying is you cannot have a daily doe limit and a 3 buck per season limit and not adversely affect the deer population. And what I see tends to indicate that, and I've seen it on two different properties. And I'm not the only person who has spoken up and said the same thing.

I will guarantee you one thing. If you knew nothing of my lease and were looking for one, and I brought you out there, you would not drive around and look at my fields and think anything other than it was a good property. Yes it has areas that need to be thinned or cut, but lots of good fields that are being used.

Your club isn’t in an area that’s ever had very high deer density. It has been hunted hard for years by everyone on Joinertown road. You are wanting to create a deer utopia on land that’s never held many deer even in the best of times. I don’t need the state limiting anything right now. They already limit enough. The only change I’d like to see is the abolishment of the CAB. Allow people to hunt the way they want. You wanna kill a bunch of does then kill em. If you wanna let em walk then let em walk. If you wanna kill every young racked buck to grow your doe population then I think that’s exactly what you should be able to do. I just don’t want or need any more of Chuckies rules.

Or option C. You see more deer because numbers of deer killed are down.

But you are wanting to change the limit statewide because y’all aren’t seeing deer on a high pressured club. The simple solution would be for people to manage deer numbers according to their property. There’s absolutely no need for the state to tell anyone how many deer can be killed off a property they have never stepped foot on.

Example 1.) You aren’t seeing many deer. (Solution) Don’t shoot anything but mature bucks for a couple years and hope the deer you let go make it.

Example 2.) You are seeing to many does. (Solution) Shoot more does but set a limit for your property or per member.

Example 3.) You don’t care and are just hunting for fun. (Solution) Follow the rules that are in place for the club or property and have fun.

Y’all are also assuming that the game check numbers are accurate. I know of a lot of people that have never game checked a deer. Outlaws are going to kill what they want regardless of what the law is. And most of the people that are killing large amounts of deer in areas that can’t handle the amount killed aren’t gonna stop because the state says so.

Clem and Frankie got it figured out. More outlaws are created when overreaching laws are put in place. It kills me how most on here don’t want the government getting involved in their life and telling them what to do. Except for deer hunting. When it comes to deer hunting they are perfectly fine with ole chuck telling em exactly what they can and can’t do. 🤷‍♂️

My deer numbers r good at both places

I use to be in great club in Marengo county - around 600 acres and 10 members that did not hunt much - we saw the heck out of deer - our neighbors slaughtered but we held most of the deer caise we had lot of sanctuaries and just hunted fields and did not get trigger happy

You can’t control your neighbors but u can control your club. Prob w most clubs - they usually end up being high pressure

Just glad we can still hunt - there no guarantees long term w the way this world is going. We don’t need to take that great right for granted and we may not get to do it forever

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self
We need prayer for our country now more than ever

For the folks who like data and maps and sich……Here’s another one using the GC numbers from this previous season. This is showing the number of deer killed in each county in relation to the size of the county….Basically you have 1 deer killed for every “X” amount of acres. As an example, Jackson Co had one deer killed per every 160 acres of land…..which I might point out is less than a lot of other counties.

If you want to look at it on a per sq mile basis then take and divide 640 by the number showing for the county......Using Jackson Co againas an example you would divide 640/160 and that would give you 4 deer killed per sq mile.

So what was the population density estimated to be again for Jackson Co??? loco

Impressive numbers. Especially considering a place like Walker county probably has 1/5 or 1/10 the deer of a place like Montgomery county and they’re killing the same number of deer.

If you want a recipe for bad hunting it’s too many people and too few deer.

But Montgomery county has a lot more city/urban sprawl then walker so that makes a difference.
