Well judging by the way the bag of the stuff I want to used feels, I am not sure if will work in a gravity based feeder. I think it will be to sticky.

I like triple grip though.

Best feeder made is by Steel Outdoors in Mississippi but it’s not a trough and only sold pellets or whole bean/corn can be used. No ground-up powdery stuff. Got eight of the 550lb units and never had coon in one. To answer your question, go to wildernesscalls.com and look at the double D feeders. Think we have six of them and they do OK but big coons will get into them even though they say they won’t. You can even use rice bran. Place feeder away from trees, I’ve watched them fall ten feet off a limb and land on the roof to get to the food.

I have a plain ole Moultrie gravity feeder and rarely get a pic of a coon. No on the molasses. I would think about the only way youd coon proof a trough would be to run a hot wire around the bottom of it and youd zap a deer leg sometimes too.

^^^^

Mine was supposed to be Coon proof - they are not. I put PVC over my banks feeder pole and over my red neck feeder pole - most coons can still climb the pvc pole

I’ve gotten pics of coons standing in the backs of other coons to get the feed out of a gravity feeder. They will find a way.

Well I will say my Moultrie with the shocker has kept the coons at Bay. Had a few climbers that learned their lesson.

Maybe I need a solar fence charger and rig up the legs.

Best way to coon proof a feeder is to remove the coons.

ya'll need to work on reading comprehension. The OP asked about coon proof TROUGH FEEDWES....not gravity feeders, spin feeders, etc.

I cant understand why anyone would want to use a trough, unless your deer wont eat out of another type of feeder.

Dang it Troy, the Double D is a trough feeder, It’s just gravy fed. It works fine with with sticky foods along with corn/gluten/ soy hull cattle feed.

Im fixin to mix some rice bran in with my corn in my gravity feeder. I figure the deer can use a little fat right now. Im hoping theyll just eat it as theyre eating the corn. We will see.
