Throwing in my 2 pennies......I tried raised beds for Strawberries twice. I couldn't keep enough water on'em. The soil in the bed was good but the sandy soil under it (natural soil) was siphon it away so fast it became a PIA to keep them alive. From this limited experience I would say have water handy or better yet, just build in an irrigation system of some kind from the start with raised beds. If you put gin trash in your raised beds you would be amazed how well it will hold water
