I just bought a jug of cornerstone at the coop for $110. I do believe that is 300% higher than it was about a year ago. Checked fertilizer price. Its 200% higher. This may be the biggest lies and deception yet. What do you do. Theyve got us by the balls. God bless the communist states of america

If they are reporting inflation at 6%, why is the average cost of goods increase at 25%?

I don’t think it’s price gouging in every case. I think producers and outsourcers are jacking up prices to get higher margins than they had when Biden was elected. This way they can show revenue growth and help him try to push the narrative that his economy is working.

U can't print the amount of money that's been printed last 2 years and hide inflation...

Im sure the gly price increase has to do with health/environmental bs. If you think food is high now, wait a year. Our peaches just went up $3/basket from whàt i saw on this trip to the coop. That will just cover the increase in expenses. We are one of the çheapest around. $3 in a year is a big deal for us and our customers. Theres gona be some folks really hurting by this time next year

They are also expecting inflation to reach 10% by the end of 2022 frown

Instead of looking at a 6% increase at the retail point I think its a 6% increase every step of the production cycle - raw material - transportation- manufacturing - distribution - retail. Every process is increasing because it costs every stage of the system more to do their part and make a profit for doing it. This is why inflation is so dangerous. It can't be artificially stopped except by price controls and that immediately collapses the currency and economy.

I'm not looking forward to seeing what fertilizer prices will be come April when the ground dries out enough to spread it. My place will not get any this year if it's as high as I've heard it is already.

Not exactly on topic but JW, do you sell your peaches at your house or the farmers market?

I’m a sucker for a home grown peach

A dollar tree opened here towards the end of last year. I’ve been in there a few times to buy snacks and other little cheap things. It’s a nice clean store. No prices tags because everything is a dollar. Went in there this past week and there are signs everywhere that all items are now $1.25.

Mostly here. We deliver to our wholesale customers. We do not go to markets

That’s some dumbass reasoning. If raw materials cost 6% more from a set point, that means at a minimum your sales tax is more. Profit is at the end of the line.

The date you sign a contract is what kills you with inflation. If you lose 10,000 on materials for a contract you signed 3 months ago, you gotta make it back somehow.
