A severely delayed punishment like our death penalty is NO deterrent.
Needs to be swift, and it’ll never be again.
Not to hijack, but the adoption system is severely broken also. Takes too much time and money for good people to adopt a child.

I bet some of it probably has something to do with a person’s perception of the world they live in. “Life” or the world around us can seem pretty and full of hope but it can also seem ugly and full of despair. For someone like these brothers growing up amongst the things they did with an abusive mother, etc…..their perception of what the world is and what life is was probably distorted to begin with…. You could call him an animal and in some regards not be wrong. Their psychology is probably wired to be more primal and survivalistic by the nature of the environment they were raised in. The dude they executed, you might as well have caught a coyote and tried to question him about his actions and trying to develop trust.
Folks that know don't shoot old does........

You did more than most people did. We all get to make our choices and it seems God always gives us a warning shot where we get away with one or two before it ends up like it did for that young man. Not everyone that hears is listening. Sure you helped a lot you will never know about.

We have a foster. that court gave back to dope head parents. When she was transitioning to her biological parents home from us, she would cling to us and cry and beg (I mean serious beg) us to go back home with her. It was horrible dropping her off. They'd keep her a few days and send her back to us to babysit for a few weeks, rinse repeat for 18 months. She was 2-3 when this was going on and when she'd realize she was being dropped off no matter what, she'd check out. You could see the blank look in her eyes. She'd punt. She was unable to cope and deal with the abandonment over and over. And God only knows what kind of neglect, abuse and general dumbassery she witnessed there. When we picked her up, it would take her a few hours for the zombie to turn into our beautiful, happy little girl. We've had her back semi-permanent again for the last few months. Lord only knows what kind of issues that trauma is going to manifest as. Right now it's clinginess, repeatedly telling us she wants to stay with us, please don't take me back, etc.. For no reason, she'll just do that. I try to lay with her to get her to sleep and she will reach over and pat my head 40 times to make sure I'm still there.
I don't make judgements on things I know nothing about, but I can sympathize with any human raised as you've described. They pay the bill for the raising they got. Who's to say they wouldn't have turned out sorry anyway, but they never got the chance.
This guys mother should have held his hand with him in the electric chair. She put him on society's radar. She should pay a price as well. Thank you for doing what you can. I don't think I could handle that situation without ending up breaking a few laws myself.

There was a Dr in the Bham area, church going, started a school, kids were perfect. One day the middle sister broke down and confessed that she had been molested by him. Turns out all the girls had. Details are terrible, and I don’t know them all. They arrested him at the airport coming in from taking his 3 boys from a hunting trip. He was the sole breadwinner in the family and controlled everything. When he was arrested he locked down all the accounts where the mom couldn’t get any money. Would not grant her a divorce, wouldn’t sell the house.
The preacher at the church told me he had gone to see him a few times to see if he could help— the Dr told him that he was not remorseful and he shouldn’t be locked up because he had done nothing wrong. Said his eyes were completely black- eyes of the devil.
He got 26 years because he had taken the girls across the state line which triggered some higher penalty. They said he was not eligible for prowl but the word is with the crowding they he might get it in a few years.
Good news is that all the kids are doing great. Mom was finally divorced and has remarried to a great guy. The middle son, that was in my sons class has been accepted into the doctoral program at UAB.

there's probably 6 or 7 people on death row in alabama I know 2 of them. I believe there should be alot more going to the chair and not this sissy lethel injection stuff.

I often wonder about kids raised in an awful environment seeing and experiencing things that no child should have to go through. I'm a Christian man but wonder how God factors in kids that have everything....and I mean everything against them from the get-go. And unloved on top of that. Children like this just seem to be almost doomed. Just breaks my heart fattyfireplug to hear about the foster child y'all help. That child at least knows what a loving home is like through y'all. The work and sacrifices y'all are making is awesome.

Well the chair is out of the question. It seems now the options are lethal injection or suffocation from Nitrogen apoxy (sp?)
