My wife and i had been split up since Nov 1. Drugs and just an overall pretty sinful and sorry lifestyle had destroyed us and our family. We had Joseph, he was a year and a half old. We werent married, but we had been living together for about three years. Joseph was not an accident, we tried for six months to have him. Anyhow, 13 yrs ago today, around lunch Jennifer called me and asked me if it was too late for us, if there was any chance we might work things out. I told her i had been waiting three months on her to call and as long as we were still breathing, i reckon there was a chance. I told her i would be home around 4:30 and if she was there, we would talk about it. We hadnt had a civil conversation in three months. I had given my life to the Lord after i watched her and Joseph leave on Nov 1, and gone back and got things right with the church the next day. I tried to get her to come back then and several times after but she didnt want any part of that. She was doing just fine the way she was. Well, at 4:30, i pulled up to the house and there she sat. I told her ive seen how this would work and if she would agree to it, we could get back together and go on. I told her i know it was going to seem as if i was putting my foot down saying "this is the way its gona be", but that was not the case and in fact the Lord had shown me this is the way its gona be, if its gona be. I told her there would beno more getting high, she had had her last buzz, we would go to church on Sunday, we would pray, study the bible, and do our level best to live the way the Lord would have us live. I told her if she would agree to that we would get back together but we would have to get married before she could move back in to the house. I told her the Lord had showed me this would work. I told her not to put her trust in me because i would let her down but to trust the Lord and everything would be ok. She agreed and we went the next day and got married. Now, i can not tell you the past 13 yrs have beeñ easy. I can not tell you we have never faught, because we have. Weve had some good ones. What i can tell you is the Lord put my family back together and he has held us together for 13 years now. Our relationship was destroyed, we were done. I can say that for sure because ive been there a couple times before and i know what it looks like. Today, i would like to thank the Lord for getting to be a daddy and a husband for 13 yrs. Thats something he didnt owe me and i sure didnt deserve but he gave it to me anyhow. Its been the best years of my life, and whether i get one more or thirty five more, ill appreciate every one of him and i wont be mad at him a bit when its all over. He has blessed me well beyond what i deserve and more than i ever could have imagined.
