I moved here a year ago from a big ol city with little to no public areas to hunt. I could see these opportunities were here on my first visit which sold me on moving here. I know the end is near and I wonder what y'all do to stay sane until next season. I've seen enough turkey in my deer hunts to be interested in that. I plan on doing some fishing this spring and summer, but what else is out there? I saw a guy kill and skin a coyote with a beautiful pelt. I never thought of that. I saw you can even sell them to fur buyers and arts and crafts types on Etsy. Got some interest in taking a few out of my local WMA. Anything to help the deer right?

What else do y'all do to keep busy and out in the woods after deer season?

You should hike the mountainous region of Pelham. It’s a running joke on here from a thread years ago. grin

I scout and start making plans for next deer season. Then get ready to fish.

Hunt small game, turkeys, prep deer hunting areas for next season, take care of cameras, fish, plant stuff, shoot photos, kill predators, fish more and mostly fish.

A deer is just a small cog in my flywheel. They're just another animal to hunt.

Used to I scouted and worked my tail off after deer season but I came to realize in season scouting is wayyyyy more important than after season. I used to scout all summer and never kill much over the spots I thought were good, then scout during season and kill one a day later. I have got to where I take it easy outside of deer season. If it was a completely new property I would scout in spring and summer just to know where to look during the season when it counts

Spend time with the family and turkey hunt in the spring. I spend a lot of my summer weekends at the lake or river with the wife and kids and do a little limb lining in between

Well, I ripped out a whirlpool tub, and now have a walk-in shower to build. It's on a slab, so the drain has to be moved, a half-wall to build, replace a 48" x 48" window, replace the window with a smaller one and install bricks.
