Not exactly a plain, cheeseburger but Willard's in Marion has a great Bacon Cheeseburger. That is a good one; used to always stop there going to/from camp in Wilcox county.

Belk Kountry Kitchen has a mean bacon cheeseburger that’s real good. Hard to beat. Lisa’s Barbecue in Fayette has an amazing standard cheeseburger.

The Haberdasher (Probably my favorite.)

I haven't eaten at the Golden Rule in Irondale in a while, but I've always had a good cheese burger there.
Fast food it has to be Freddy's hands down. Freddy's beats most other burgers in the state. With Mooyah being a close second.
Also I have to say, that I know we are talking about burgers, but if the burger is good, but everything else is crap it really detracts from the burger experience. In this area, The Haberdasher, Mooyah, and Freddy's really shine. I love all their fries. Mooyah and The Haberdasher serve homemade fries as does Golden Rule in Irondale. At Golden Rule, you have to tell them to make the fries extra crispy.
