I really like my RAM 1500 4x4. The 8 speed transmission is the best transmission I have had in a vehicle. It always seems to be in the right gear. It's like it's got ESP or something. Even going down hills it downshifts to slow the truck down. Even better when it's in tow mode. I call it sport mode. Super comfortable. It's a handsome truck. Drives and handles great. Lots of creature comforts especially since it's not even the top of the line model. It's a Bighorn model. Mrs. Irish likes taking it on trips better than going in her top of the line Mazda SUV, because the seats are so big, upright and all day comfortable.

I plan on keeping it for a long time. I have about 60k on it now. No issues.

Same reason why we don’t like the Lexus SUV’s.

They all have plastic bumpers.

Exactly what I was thinking. With steel increases, it's probably close to $5,000 to put aftermarket steel bumpers front and rear on a truck.

That and crash safety mumbo jumbo. They have a steel reinforcement behind all that plastic.

That plastic costs a crapload to spray and replace too.

It ain't cheap.

Haven't bought a truck since 97, I'm getting close to getting a 250/2500 or 350/3500 in a used truck.

From everything that i am reading, this combo is a the truck to have. F250 with the 7.3 gas. I have a 2009 Tundra, it’s great, but if you tow much at all, i would go 3/4 ton. I added airbags and a torsion bar. I tow a fair amount and would go 3/4 ton if buying newer truck.

I’m a self proclaimed expert in pickup trucks. I’ve owned all four you mentioned in every cab size, engine size and gear axle ratio. I’ve hauled pretty much everything in the construction and agriculture industry in my lifetime. And towed it as well. My advice is simple. Get what fits your ass. If you’re not comfortable with everything from ride to seat comfort and instrumentation layout you won’t be happy.

2007 Toyota Tundra with 271k miles and still purs like a baby. I have had 4-5 people try to buy her from me including one guy who has asked three times.

I just cannot sell her. She drives too good to get rid of her. I have liability only car insurance and pay $600 a year. My car tag is about $110. No car payment.

I would not buy one of those new Tundras.

Someone mentioned Nissan Titan's. Go read their forums. About every 100 starts, the key won't turnover. People have spent $$$$ trying to fix things trying to rectify the problem.

I have yet to see something that would make me give up driving my current truck. My goal is 500k miles.

Gme I have an 06 but only have 181,xxx on it. Like you I would drive it anywhere. Do you replace the water pump at 90,000 like people recommend?

We run all different brands of trucks in our fleet at work. Toyota’s are the most expensive to repair, most uncomfortable riding and driving, and the Tundra’s get the worst gas mileage compared to other V8 half ton trucks…no offense to y’all, but I’d NEVER own a Toyota truck of any kind!!!

F150’s and F250’s are the all-around best trucks for us (coming from someone who’s always been a Chevy guy)…15-present Chevy/GMC have given us lots of electrical and transmission issues. Chevy/GMC is definitely the most comfortable riding and driving in it’s class, but they’re a real headache mechanically nowadays

My physical therapist (back) says majority of her make patients drive Toyota trucks .

I need more info. So you are saying that year end year out the repair bills on Tundras are more than the other brands? Not talking about the fact that the Toyota service department are charging too much but that shucks breaks more than other brands. Hard to believe.

I’m just going off what our corporate office says about truck repairs: it costs our company more money to repair Toyota’s than other brands…Our local office that I manage only currently has 2 Toyota trucks out of the 30 trucks I oversee. These Toyota’s (1 Tacoma and 1 Tundra) both had electrical issues and replaced transmissions by the time they hit 140k miles. I’m also seeing the same out of many of our Chevy’s…We’ve learned: with a 2015-2018 Chevy, you can bank on replacing the transmission between 110-150k miles. We’ve replaced 4 of them in the last 12 months
