All Weatherby® Mark V® rifles and Vanguard® Series 2 rifles are guaranteed to shoot a .99″ or better 3-shot group at 100 yards from a cold barrel when used with premium (non-Weatherby calibers) or Weatherby factory ammunition. Together, the Weatherby system (premium ammunition and rifle) forms the flattest shooting, hardest hitting, most accurate combination in the industry today.
If it don't send it back!
Now if it is being bought used I would carry to range first before handing over any money.

If you're planning on getting a standard Vanguard, look at the Howa...they make the Vanguard and are usually cheaper. That being said, I'm using a Vanguard in 270 that I bought off of here a couple months ago, I've owned several Weatherbys and Howa's, they've all been very accurate and reliable.

Have 2 MK V's; 270 Wby and a 6 lug 7mm-08 stainless carbine Both in McMillan stocks. Both excellent shooters; the 7-08 is my favorite whitetail woods/treestand rifle.
Most don't realize how light the 6 lug actions are.

I'm a Weatherby fan. They are nice rifles the Vanguard is a made by Howa just like a Browning is really a Miroku. I don't think the Japanese gun manufacturers have ever been accused of making an inferior product, rather, they produce some of the nicest.

All that being said they are not as nice as they once were if a rich deep blue and high grade wood are your thing.

Mark V's are some of the nicest rifles money can buy and have been since 1954.

Thanks TDog93, Stories behind how each gun came together. But, to answer your question; different scopes for different guns for different applications.
The Swaro is a PV 4-16x50 w/BRH reticle on a MK V 270 Wby mag, 26" barrel w/ zero at 300yds+. We had a 1.5 mile gas line, about 25yds wide, through the property I used to hunt. I wanted to be able to laser a 350yds point when I got on stand and be able to point and shoot out to that range quickly. Has same ballistics as my B78 .257 Wby mag. I actually bought a Z6 to "upgrade" because it was lighter and side focus was handy. Could not tell and difference in optical performance and kept the PV, sold the Z6. It's one of the later models, 2008, before they were discontinued and has later coatings. It's a heavy rig anyway, so weight was really not a factor for this rig. These PV's are great buys, hold their value and have lifetime warranty.

The Zeiss is a Victory Diavari 2.5-10x42. In my opinion; you can't buy a better scope in this range. Have no idea why they quit making this configuration. For a 30mm; it only weighs 16.5oz. So; that set up w/ the 20" barrel weighs 7lbs1oz total. Perfect weight for me for a tree stand/ walking gun. I have been able to make some quick shots from awkward positions; as happens during the rut. Like the one below. I tried a S&B Summit first on this rig and did not like it. Had bad glare issues looking toward a setting sun. The resolution in the woods at last light on the Zeiss is amazing. If you find one under $1200; buy it.

The Mark V is as quality of a mass production rifle as there is. The Vanguard is as quality of a mass production economy rifle as there is.

Picked up my 6lug MarkV Carbine 7-08 from gundoc yesterday and she turned out NICE. Upgraded the factory tupperware with an AG Composite carbon stock(Made in Huntsville, AL), plus a trigger job, Talley LW’s, & Leupold VXR. The weight loss was dramatic to say the least. Sub-6.5lbs fully loaded. Pictured beside a M70 Featherweight for comparison.

Thanks guys. I owe wew3006 all the credit for the Weatherby project. I picked the rifle up on an ALDeer classifieds trade and without him I never would have realized how rare the MarkV carbines are. I tried my best to duplicate his rifle. There was a little misfortune/miscommunication with McMillan x 2 but it all worked out for the best in the end.
