Lockjaw, the first thing you need to do is drop your membership to about 7 -8 members. Y’all need to spend about 3 years with very limited harvest and see how that works. Killing spikes isn’t the answer either. Agreed. 50-60 acres per hunter is HIGH pressure, especially when you add family members. 150-200 acres per membership is much better. 50 acres per member is ridiculously high pressure. Based on just that fact, most likely, you dont have a density problem, you've got a hunting pressure problem and the deer are just not using your property much, especially if your neighbors don't hunt as much as you do. I agree with 338, 100%. Cut the membership numbers by 60-75% and lay off the trigger for 2-3 years and see how things are looking. I'll bet that you would be surprised. If you've got 20 people plus guest and family members using that place 7 days a week, the deer dont ever get a break and it wont matter how much or what you plant. You've got to make the place a spot where deer feel safe, have what they need (food, cover, bedding, water) and want to be, and if every deer using the property gets a nose full of human scent everywhere they go, every day, its not the way to do it.
