I have always bought Fords, but I have no loyalty. Damn the F150's are expensive. Which trucks are the best value?

4x4, 4 door super crew, good reliability, about all that I need

Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Toyota

If I had to buy a *new* truck, today, I'd probably bite the bullet and buy a Tundra. I love my 2013 F-150 but have read mixed reviews on the newer ones. The Toyota's are high, but hell, so are all the others.

I don’t think reliability is even disputed anymore. It’s Toyota. They don’t look as good and they’re not “American” even though they’re as American as any. But Toyotas don’t look very good and they guzzle gas.

Ain't no such thing as value in a new pickup these days. I'm not paying more for a new ride than I paid for my house and 30 acres(that was 30 years ago but I'm still not doing it)

All I’ve ever owned are Fords as well except for an 07 Silverado that burned oil like crazy. Currently I have a 2020 F150, Lariat, 4x4. It’s my company owned vehicle. It’s nice enough but as for reliability, I’d be pissed if I had paid for it myself. My personal 2010 F150 is twice the truck this one has been. If I were to looking to buy today, I’d look at Toyota. They are all going to be as high as giraffes p***y though.

Tacoma unless you are towing anything heavier than a 4-wheeler. Bicycle brakes.

I got tired of screwing with Ford and warranty issues and bought a new GMC. The interior layout and screen size are the two things I think they could have done better (the updated 2022 models due in the summer will have redesigned interior). The screen is actually pretty good size, but being on such a large center stack makes it look small. Very comfortable interior, and easy to use controls. Went with a 6.2, and it doesn't have auto start/stop and no AFM/DOD. The 10 speed trans is really smooth. The first few hundred miles it was a little wonky, until it learned my driving habits and adjusted. Pulls the side by side trailer WAY better than my 16 F150 with 5.0 and 3.31 rear. Was a little worried because the only rear available is a 3.23 but all the transmission gears make it pull very easily. Lots of torque. We will see how well it holds up. Didn't really want to buy a new truck, but had to make a move.

I have an 02 and 05 Tundra. 02 is 2 wd and has 370+K miles on it. It has gotten as high as 20mpg on the highway. My 05 is a doublecab 4wd, and it gets about 17 on the hwy. About 13 in mixed driving. Neither use oil.

I just don't know about the new trucks. I keep my night time lights faily dim, and wouldn't want some big 20 in monitor in the middle of the dash providing glare. And I like an aftermarket stereo, and I am just not sure how all that would work yet. My 05 is a fine truck, but could use a few more HP.

And I am not a fan of buying the new redesigned model in its first year. Wait a year and see what they have to fix.

I have a 2021 GMC 1500 SLT CC 4wd and have put 16,000 miles on it since May and other than one issue with squeaky leaf springs it has been a good truck. It has the 5.3 and I have 34" Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it but it still pulls SxS on a tandem axle 14' trailer just fine.

I will be having to take the plunge soon myself. All I have ever owned is Ford and GM but will likely go Tundra next time. Buy once cry once.

The new Tundra is about $15k more than the exact ‘20 trim model I was looking at before the Covid shortage got serious with chips, etc. Not many ‘old design 21’s produced, either. I did hear that they put the ‘21 V8 motors in some ‘22, instead of the twin turbo V6 used in the Land Cruisers…don’t know if that’s true, but still won’t be a pioneer with the first year redesign, though.
Looks like I’ll keep driving my ‘11 Sequoia (177k miles) for a while longer!

The best value is the Ford Maverick.

Buy a “truckette” and have money leftover for a down payment on a rental property.

I have a 2014 tundra limited TRD 4x4 crewmax and I don’t regret the purchase one bit. It will pull a 33’ camper like a champ and has Just been a jam up truck so far.

I get a new truck every 2 years, and since 2013 I have gotten a new Tundra. But when they decided to go with a v-6 I decided to get something else. This time I got a 2022 F250 with the 7.3l gas engine. The interior is nicer than the Toyota but it does not ride as good (which I expected). The fuel mileage is about 12.5 around town and the Tundra was about 14. I went with the F250 because I could buy it cheaper then the F150. It was about the same with the GMC 1500 vs 2500. It was only a couple of thousand difference between the 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton.

Ive got a 2016 Tundra with 120k truly trouble free miles. Got a 09 Tacoma hunting truck that I’ve had front end issues with but that because its got a three inch lift and I treat it like a four wheeler. But to the OP question, if I was going to buy a new truck today I would take a hard look at the Nissans. Particularly the new Frontier.

Maybe the 4-cylinder? My V6 Tacoma with 278 HP hauls two zero turn mowers all over town on a 12-foot trailer from March-November and doesn't even break a sweat.

Ive never driven one, but the Titans are a sharp looking truck. Seems like a couple people I know that drive them seem to be loyal to them.

I dont think I'll ever own a new truck, so I'll sit back and see what pans out. I feel 10-12 years is about how long I need to judge a truck on.

So, in 2012 If go with either a ford 1/2 ton with a 5.0 or GM 3/4 with a 6.0 gas.

Just saw one of the new tundras a few minutes ago. Gonna take me a minute to get used to the front end on the new ones
