That would be castleberry AL. Their police force was completely disbanded and rightly so

The town must have a population of 19,000 or greater.

In Texas we had several small towns that acted the same way. Until one of them wrote a ticket for going 2 mph over the speed limit. The driver accepted the ticket and paid. What he failed to mention was he that he was also a state legislator. At the next session he attached a law to some bill that stated any town that generated over 10% of its annual budget revenue from traffic enforcement, had to send any money over the 10% threshold to the state general fund.

Now that the cat is out of the bag I'll bet big money the AG's office will announce something soon. Sometimes the press serves a purpose in our society. Granted that is decreasingly so, but sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

The Alabama AG needs to go into Brookside and look up the asses of these corrupt POS Azzholes. I read the story and saw where Brookside has purchased an anti riot vehicle which looks like a repurposed military armored transport vehicle.

The biggest worry for people in Brookside is probably exploding double wide meth labs, not traffic violations. I have friends who grew up in Gardendale and they called Brookside a chithole with drug dealers and easy wimmens.

Corrupt politicians hiring power trippin buddies to harass people and line their pockets.

Those aren't purchased, they are given to agencies as surplus military equipment. It has about as much use in a little town like that as teats on a boat hog, but it was a freebie. I'd rather see it sank in the gulf as a reef, than go to an agency that is likely to misuse it.

The Brookside story has made National level news, so I suspect that the AG will have to look into it now.
