It's unbelievable.

Yet the town with no traffic lights collected $487 in fines and forfeitures in 2020 for every man, woman and child, though many of those fined were merely passing by on I-22.

Total town income more than doubled from 2018 to 2020 – from $582,000 to more than $1.2 million – as fines and forfeitures rose 640%.

The Brookside story is absolutely infuriating.....and I have zero faith that anything meaningful will be done about it

I like that a town of that size has a military style “riot control” vehicle. only purpose of that is to intimidate those citizens who might feel inclined to ever speak up against police behavior.

I know the Brookside chief personally, but haven’t seen him in years. Doesn’t surprise me a bit. I’ve heard lots of stories.

I thought there was a statewide law passed 20 years ago or so where little towns couldn't write tickets on Interstate highways. If memory servers, the very powerful state senator Lowell Barron got a ticket from small town Barney . Next legislative session he solved that problem. Is this not correct?

There was a population requirement for them to patrol the interstates. Not sure if they got rid of it altogether.

I remember Greenville and Evergreen having a fit about this way back then cause they lost a lot of revenue.

Eddie is a fine feller but wound to tight for his convictions to engage in a lot of discussions on the internet...

The king of copy and paste. A good guy for sure, and probably nowhere more than in his own mind. I just started this to mess with him a little bit. He thinks i hate him and im against "his cause", because i pointed out he is not perfect. He asked for some help, likely in gest. I thought it would be humorous for the one who hates him to be the one to help him. I didnt read the article, i have no idea what it says, that is irrelevant to my point. Anyhow Eddie is an old guy who means well, thinks very highly of himself, and gets riled up pretty easy if you know which button to push. I like pushing buttons.
