kindof hard to process a deer in the sand and without ice, but I guess thats what the indians had to do. maybe you could put some of that liver on a big hook for shark or gator bait.

If I were him, I’d process it on a concrete slab and take a big cooler with 60 pounds of ice.

Great thread! Enjoying the photos and narrative. Hopefully you had a good day today. Looks like the rain will get you this afternoon and evening. Guessing you may have packed up and left the island after hunting this morning to avoid the rain and cool temps. Stay safe!

We loaded up and headed home around lunch today. Decided it would be better to get off the island before the bad weather came. Almost got sunk in the canoe trying to cross the pass in a 15mph wind today so I’m glad we didn’t wait for the 30mph winds they were forecasting for tomorrow. Man it felt good to take a shower for the first time since Tuesday night lol, my wife almost kicked me right back out of the house when I walked in. But we planned next years trip on the way home and I can’t wait to get back, that island is a special place and I’m hoping to keep our yearly hunt there a tradition for many more years.
