Scott and Matt decided to come out of the woods a little early this morning so we all hopped in my canoe, hit the mainland, and went to get oysters and beer. While we were out I bought a severely over priced fishing rod. When they left for the stands I hopped back in the canoe and went fishing. So far all I have managed to catch is one small flounder on a gulp shrimp, but I’m not done yet.

I think we’re going to load up a day early and try to get out of here before the rain starts tomorrow afternoon. It’s been one heck of a trip and even though I miss my wife and kid I’m not ready to leave.

Went all out for dinner tonight. Cooked my flounder from today along with mashed potatoes and I browned some hamburger meat to mix with Mac and cheese for a camp style hamburger helper. Got a big fire rolling and we’re listening to the hoot owls sing.

Cool thread and congratulations! I’m assuming you are keeping the boat anchored out in deeper water and using the canoe to shuttle to the beach?

We actually used the boat to bring everything across, put it back on the trailer, and came back across on the canoe. That way we didn’t have to worry about the boat blowing away or getting beached.
