I sit in the middle of the road, that way they pause to look at me when they cross.

Killed a pile of them from a ground blind on public land. Stared using them at demopolis wma that old growth timber makes it almost impossible to find a tree to climb. I've kept using them and really like them

I like short rifles in ground blinds too. H&R single shots are nice in them.

Yes I hunt a lot of ground blinds and have seven set up on my land. I love them. Super portable and easy to set up. I also make a ton out of natural vegetation and camo burlap and netting. I am old. I prefer my feet on the ground these days

Those umbrella's that screw in trees are nice and easy to carry. Ain't much good for driving hard rain's but they keep you dry in popup showers . I used to leave a couple stored in the woods . Left Army poncho in places too.

I remember right the Allen brand of umbrella was the best and bigger.

Have tried it 4 or 5 times but man I always spook the deer with them. Does not matter how well I brush them in they spot it quick. Yall that use them leave them out for a while before hunting?

I have hunted from ground blinds for several years. Ground blinds have come a long way. The first ones I used were small and had velcro everywhere and leaked like a sieve. The ones I use now are large and have slide windows (not sure what they are called). I have used them in bow season, but really like them for gun season. In my main blind, I use a swivel blind chair, but camp chairs work well. Since I hunt on private land, I put them up early in bow season and leave them and the deer get used to them. I don't try to hide them or brush them in. I've killed a lot of deer from one. I keep a buddy heater in them and often stay all day. I love them.

In the past 3 years,I've started using blinds more often, mainly cause I'm taking my daughter's' with me whenever I can get them to go. Did have success rattling in a young buck this year. I would hit the rattling horns and have my oldest daughter stomp around the blind and sweep the leaves for ground noise. Had a buck come in 5 min later in bow range. It was really cool and made it fun for her to get involved as well. Highly suggest the blinds with yhe see thru fabric for hunting with kids.

Can't say much that hasn't already been said, but will say that the longer it stays up, the more the deer get used to it being there.

No. And it's not because I don't believe they're effective, I just don't like hunting from the ground. However, that's just specific to where I hunt.

I would just about stop hunting before I started hunting from the ground (if I'm otherwise healthy enough to still climb a tree), it's that big of a deal to me. I know it's situational, but I've never hunted from the ground when I didn't have to give something up. Being 20/30/40/50 feet up a tree opens up the WHOLE place, I can shoot every direction, for a long distance. I don't hunt many places where I can predict where the deer will be (like a food plot), I need to be able to see and shoot in a 360 circle as far as I can see. But like I said, that's just my worldview, and mostly because of where I hunt. I'm not in a club, don't hunt fields or other open areas. I'm 99% of the time in the woods and ridges and thicker stuff. Earlier this year I chose to carry a folding chair and sit on the ground where I could see a large hardwood bottom and two ridge sides, I could literally see 300 yards , but I couldn't see ANYTHING behind me. Where did I hear deer twice that morning???....yep, behind me. If I could have just been 10ft high in a tree I could've seen them.

My experience as well when putting them in them woods. Need to put them out before now season and leaf drop so it becomes part of their environment.

My default setup is to be on the ground. Only climb when there is a good reason. usually ground setups are just as good and many time better. I have several porta pottys sitting on the ground. There have been lots of deer killed from them. raising them up would in no way help you kill any more a deer.

That’s funny Atoler - when I use to hunt in Arky got in a decent club - old club president use to sit in lawn chair in edge of road - I thought this is an idiot when I saw him doing that - super nice guy and I discovered he killed deer and it worked. Biggest deer I ever killed in FL was crossing a road I was sitting in - long grass was hiding me but he stopped and tried to make me out - already had gun on him from my shooting sticks when he stepped out

One guy on here had great tip on road hunting - put white bucket on edge road - they stop and look at it - never tried it but sounds like it work

What brands of blinds do you guys use? Do some seem to hold up better than others. I'm thinking about changing over to that kind of set up. Just seem to be too restless these days
