The flaw with this logic is that they act like they can just kill it out of an area and that'll be that.......totally disregarding the fact that the "boundaries" around that area area just imaginary lines on a map........so you wipe out the heard...more will eventually move in from neighboring areas and are just as likely to have it and bring it right back in. Wiping out the heard does nothing but wipe out the heard....Eventually deer will move back into those areas, and CWD right along with them.

You can’t put that Jenie back in the bottle. They’re going to do it. The plan was written a few years ago. Extend seasons, eliminate limits and perform Dept kills after seasons to lower the population to single digits per square mile in the affected areas.

I was sitting in a tree on Lauderdale WMA when I saw this thread. Felt just completely sick about it. We have a gun hunt Thursday - Sunday, so the check station was occupied today and tomorrow. Decided to just bail since if I killed one I'd have to debone before I went to my processor in Franklin and was not prepared for that. Went down and talked to green jeans on duty. He knew as much as us. The biologist and one other warden had gone to a meeting on it and hadn't gotten back yet.

The press release stated west-central part of the county which is not where the main WMA located, it's in far west or northwest part of the county, Seven Mile is just west of town on the river. My guess is that it was killed in Oakland/Central area, which is where I've got some family land that might be part of the nuke it from orbit part of the "plan."

Its really sad our herd especially in Waterloo was really improving with the limited doe days and antler restrictions. I will just adapt. Hate it had to be my county but it was going to be somebody anyway.

Eliminating all deer on affected areas is about a logical as the state mandating lockdowns and masks last year.

We saw how well that stopped the China Flu. rolleyes

I wonder what happens when they find it 3 counties over? Will they wipe them out in between?

The single stupidest thing that they could have done before it made it to Alabama is to legalize baiting for deer. If anything they should have put extra personnel in the area where it was nearby to catch baiters and prosecute to the full extent of the law.

Second stupidest thing is to now attempt deer geneside in the affected area. If there's 2 deer per square mile left over
they will find each other and slobber in the same corn pile. Then spread it to the 2 deer on the next square mile.

We have to remember back to them putting folks on overpasses and I'm bucket trucks looking for deer in the trucks to fully understand the mass killing provoking. To top it off a large percentage of folks already follow the affected area guidelines.

They are not going to ban baiting

Don’t worry about that

Too much $$$$$$$$$$$

So just kill them all

For nothing

Idiots

And anyone that supports it is an idiot.

They fixing to throw away 20 years of antler restrictions

I find it humorous really

I hate it for the guys who hunt the wmas

Those are the ones that’ll suffer the most.

Iowa seems to have rebounded nicely without wholesale slaughter.

I'm not saying I agree with them, but I don't think the idea is to wipe out the herd. I think the reasoning behind it is to provide more samples for testing to determine how prevalent the disease is in that area.

This really sucks for public land hunters and it also sucks for the private land owners with stupid neighbors that wipe the population out. Let nature run its coarse and cut back on doe days is how I would handle it, but who am I besides an uneducated hillbilly. 2022 is off and running to be a big cluster phuck. You trying to kill all our deer and mandate vaccines to have a job. I’m ready to go off grid and try something different.

So what is the nuke area as mapped. Of interest then does that not take out the high fence of the Lt. Gov. That sure will be interesting.
