I thought this was a thread about the Gus Bus...  Yup Me too. How did it devolve into this? I started this thread, because I was actually happy for Gus, and the fact that just maybe he has found his place. I've even had several posts in support of Coach Harsin, when Auburn fans were bashing the guy. I'm beginning to wonder if the problem at Auburn is really the coaches and the players...

... He did pretty good last night from what I saw in the Youtube highlights. 9-4 at UCF it will be interesting to see if he redeems himself. Does anyone have a better record against Saban than Gus? To the original question posed, although good guy Gus had one of the more respectable records against Saben, several coaches in fact had winning records in head-to-head competition against him. Add Kyle Whittingham, coach of the Utah Utes, to that list.

I believe Dabo has a winning record against Nick.
I agree Irish, Gus is probably in a very good place for him. The problem is his ego won't let him make the most of it, he really believes he is a better coach than NS.

We beat them in the semifinals one year, can’t remember the year but I’m sure Orion34 knows, he’s been giving most of the Bama stats in this thread

Was au under sanctions and short 22 scholarships when he took the reins? Shula wasnt the best coach in the world, but he wasnt no gus neither. Only reasons Mike got that job was because he played at Bama and his last name. He wasn't considered for a HC job before or after Bama. And also because the other main candidate was Sylvester Croom and power people at UA were not about to hire a black man no matter what. So we did and the only real games he won was against UofA.

Heard Gus on Jox radio this morning on way to work. He's still pretty pumped up about the bowl win over Florida. Good for him. Maybe he will do well at UCF.

He should - lot of talent in FL - year after year they will play 0-1 ranked teams
I think he will do real well - was not a fan of him but he use to do great at AU beating up on the weak to average teams - he struggled w the good teams
