Backstory... my wife knows I am a germophobe (only with human and domesticated animal germs) and somehow our dog ended up with my toothbrush so she snapped that picture and sent it to me (i was working out of town).

Side note: I can field dress a gut shot deer and wipe my hands on some leaves before I eat. But, pet a dog/cat or be around people and I look like a pre-op surgeon scrubbing down before I'll touch food.

I got one dog that will lick her butt, then come and try and lick your toes or fingers then try and lick your face. I'm pretty sure she is trying to spread her butt-hole smell on people so as to claim ownership. She gets popped on the nose a lot when she tries that.

Raven is the by far the best dog I’ve ever had. She probably lives a better life then some people but I’ll bust her ass in a heartbeat if she tries to lick or jump on somebody. Now she loves to give hugs but only when they’re asked for. I’ll let that slide. Very seldom does she try to jump on someone but once in a while she’ll try.

Ain’t happening.

I will not tolerate a dog licking me. And my dog knows better. Cant stand that crap and highly question ppl that let a dog lick all over them.

I’ve had a dog in the house for the past 20 years. Our current dog has one piece of furniture he can get on, sleeps in the laundry room at night, doesn’t beg for food and really doesn’t chew anything up but hair bows. For what ever reason he HATES bows. My daughter will take hers out as soon as she gets home. Her best friend (neighbors kid) doesn’t wear them over to the house anymore either 😂. He most definitely doesn’t lick people or he would get smacked upside the head.

My dog, Sadie, has a very keen nose and she loves to smell. Never seen her lick anyone but she will sure give you a sniffing over.

Will not put up with a dog licking me or anyone else.

I train my dog not to lick. The only thing she licks is deer blood. I use ghost pepper to train them from licking. She does not get any food other than dog food. She does get treated to Starbucks every Wednesday. She does sleep in my bed. Her spot is wherever I am. As someone else said my dog lives a better life than most people

Great thread. Sometimes Dog's butts smell better than their mouths. Just sayin.

I have a little female Sheltie, best running buddy you could have, goes to work with me almost every day. She’ll start making funny low pitch growl sounds around 4am and if I don’t respond, it’s face licking time.

Call me nasty or whatever you want but this little gal meets me at the door every day after work tail wagging and glad to see me. She licks my face and I let her. I share a few pieces of my supper with her every night but she eats her on dog food. She also sleeps in my bed between me an my wife at our feet. If anything moves outside the house she lets us know. She is our security system so she gets a pass to lick my face all along if she wants to.

Our two older standard poodles don’t lick, but they are allowed to sleep on the bed on top of the comforter and one usually ends up too hot and gets down on the floor at some point. The 9 month old standard poodle, who is already a little bigger than the other two stays in her crate as we are still very much working on training in a few areas. They are not intentionally fed anything but dog food but do occasionally get lucky and find something one of us has dropped on the floor.

This one doesn’t sit still long enough to lick you. 😆

I debated between a blue heeler and an Australian Shepard.
Ended up going with the Aussie.
You won’t find a more loyal companion than a herding dog.
But, it’s gonna be rough for the first 6-12 months because they are as hard headed as they are loyal.

Nope to the face licking and they can sleep on the floor in the den. Better not get in my bed.

Shoot I wish our wiener would sleep at our feet. She is normally dead between us. Just don’t talk to her close or she will try to lick you in the mouth and she’s quick about it.

Dachshunds are notorious for not being able to hold their licker 😁.
