Who's hunting opening day & what kind of setup are you planning to hunt?
I am off the first 10 days of the season and will be hunting every one of them but since I just joined a new club and in the process of scouting and learning the property I am not sure where I will be hunting opening morning yet. I have a few possiblities but I am waiting to see which trees are going to drop and see which one's have the most sign. A couple of the spots I am looking at have really good funnels because of ponds/small lakes plus white oaks that are loaded but they are not dropping yet. I believe one of these spots will be my opening day location. But I want know for sure until a little closer to the season.

I'll be in my sweet little honey hole funnel in the mountains opening morning...Still trying to decide for the afternoon but more than likely close to one particular trophy rock site!

I am going to be up a tree too!! I will be overlooking a spring in an oak bottom. Only water around right now due to the dry conditions. Very few acorns on the trees but there are a few.

Still too early to call...I've got some great set ups in mind, but if the weather conditions don't change dramatically before Oct 15th I'm going to wait a spell.

If it stays dry I will be sitting over the only water hole in the area, a small beaver pond on the edge of a 200 acre chop. The number of pics Im getting right now has more does than I can count and 10 different racked bucks using it during daylight, 3 shooters one of which is a stud. My luck though is it will flood or some man made disaster will phuk it all up 3 days before the opener.

Sure would if I had any. We hunt in the hills. I killed several on swamp chestnuts when I hunted the Sipsey.
We have chestnut oaks, Quercus montana, in the hills, and they have a high tannin content. They eat them, but don't prefer them.

I had a lock on attached to one last season and the acorns were falling but the deer just didnt hit them. But two years ago, the tree had light crop but the deer were hammering them. It was so far back in the swamp that I pulled out the stand this year. Probably a mistake. But I saw more snakes back there than I did deer.
