Most hunting clubs I know of have numerous cases of 1 paying and 2-3 hunting. When I leased land with my friends several of them had sons who hunted just as much as the paid members did. Throw in the retired guy who hunts all week with his guest and you get a lot of pressure and then the drama starts. I was in duck leases for years and was always told I was a good member to have because it was just me and a dog and a checkbook. My best hunting partner has 2 sons and when they got old enough to hunt on their own he would buy a membership for himself and one for them in deer or duck leases to make it fair. I have always believed the old saying that guests and sons have ruined more hunting clubs and leases than anything else. Best thing I ever did was lease a place myself and just take who I wanted when I wanted and whoever helped the the work got lots of invites. This allowed me to control pressure and that’s when we started killing really nice deer. I still lease a little and am in a duck lease but mostly hunt in my own places now. I’m starting to ramble but will close with this, one of our guys when we leased land had a daughter and every year for 4 years whoever she was banging at the time cane hunting with her dad and shot a small buck always at the peak of the rut and every excuse known to man was given. I’m still friends with the gut but we don’t hunt together anymore.
